button for at least three seconds, until the confirmation
beep is heard.
Automatic Functioning Button
Press this to activate the sensors with which the hood
is supplied. See paragraph that explains the sensors.
For Models HL 998 and HLS 998
These models are supplied with sensors that, if
revealing environmental variations (temperature and
heat), are able to start the hood, setting the most
suitable suction power automatically.
For correct functioning of the sensors, they should be
calibrated on the basis of the cooking top (gas,
induction or electric). See the end of the paragraph for
further details about setting and calibrating the
sensors.
Automatic functioning
The hood is always set in “manual functioning“. Press
to activate “automatic functioning” ( lights
up): the hood starts and adjusts the suction only if the
sensors with which it is equipped reveal environmental
variations (temperature and heat).
If the environmental conditions are such as to not start
the hood for at least 20 minutes, the hood passes from
“automatic functioning” to “Stand by” ( turns off).
Press any button, except the buttons that control the
lights, to return to “manual functioning“.
! The sensors are calibrated automatically every half
hour and, on the basis of the data revealed, determine
the automatic turning on or off of the hood.
In certain cases (environmental temperature
increasing or decreasing for other reasons) it might be
necessary to carry out manual calibration of the
sensors.
Manual calibration of the sensors
This is to be carried out, for example, when:
• installing the hood for the first time.
•the power is cut off for many hours or days (e.g.
holidays).
How to carry out manual calibration of the sensors:
Press the suction power adjustment buttons and
simultaneously for about 3 seconds with the hood
in the OFF position and wait for the acoustic signal
indicating that calibration has been completed.
Safety
When the hood is in “manual functioning” stand-by,
and the sensors reveal an excessive increase in
temperature, the hood sets itself into “automatic
functioning “ and, if the environmental conditions
warrant it, starts the motor.
Malfunctioning of the automatic functioning system
The zone where the sensors are situated must always
be kept clean to allow them to reveal the temperature
and humidity in an appropriate manner. Always refer to
the cleaning instructions in this manual for this
purpose.
If begins to flash it means that “automatic
functioning“ is not functioning. Contact technical
assistance.
The hood can, in any case, be used in “manual
functioning“.
