3 to be instructed about the factors that
inuence dust exposure e.g.:
Type of material to be processed;
Importance of the individual extractor
hoods (dust collector at the place of
origin);
Proper setting of the extractor hoods,
guide plate, chip collector;
If available, activation of the extractor
hoods before work starts;
It is important that:
4 during operation, the machine stands
on a horizontal, even oor and that the
space around the machine is well main-
tained and free of waste such as e.g.,
chips and cut work pieces;
5 an appropriate general or localized illu-
mination is provided;
6 the output material and the processed
work pieces are stacked nearby at the
normal workplace of the operator.
It is important for the operator:
7 that, if necessary, personal safety gear
is worn, which can include the following:
hearing protection, to reduce the risk
of a possible hearing loss;
respiration protection, to reduce the
inhalation of harmful dust;
gloves while handling saw blades
(whenever possible, saw blades
should always be transported in a
tool case);
8 that the machine is switched off, if it is
without supervision;
9 that faults in the machine including the
safety devices or saw blades are report-
ed immediately after they are detected;
10 that operators learn the safety measures
for cleaning, maintenance and regular
removal of chips and dust to avoid the
risk of re;
11 that the instructions of the manufacturer
on operation, adjustment and repair of
saw blades are followed;

nées soient stockés sur le poste de travail
normal de l’opérateur.
Il est important pour l’opérateur:
7 si nécessaire, de porter un équipement
de protection personnelle pouvant com-
prendre;
de porter une protection auditive an
de réduire le risque d’un début de
perte d’audition;
de porter une protection respiratoire
an de réduire les risques à l’aspira-
tion de poussières nocives;
de porter des gants pour le manie-
ment des lames de scie (les lames de
scie doivent, si possible, toujours être
transportées avec une plaque porte-
outils);
8 d’arrêter la machine tant quelle est sans
surveillance;
9 de signaler les défauts de la machine
ainsi que des dispositifs de protection ou
des lames de scie immédiatement après
leur découverte;
