Der zur Verfügung stehende Speicher ist kleiner als erwartet:
Die genaue Anzahl der verfügbaren Bytes hängt von mehreren Faktoren
ab:
Eine Angabe in MB ist notgedrungen immer recht ungenau, da im
allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch Verwirrung darüber herrscht, ob
1 MB = 1000 KB oder
1 MB = 1024 KB
(und entsprechend
1 KB = 1000 Bytes oder
1 KB = 1024 Bytes) sind.
Mithin kann also ein 128 MB großer Speicher zwischen 128.000.000
Bytes und 134.217.728 Bytes groß sein. Die genaue Anzahl an Bytes
kann auch in Windows angezeigt werden.
Ein Teil des Speicherplatzes wird durch das Partitionieren und
Formatieren belegt. Das Dateisystem (z.B. FAT) und die
Partitionsdaten können unterschiedlich viel Speicherplatz belegen.
Ein weiterer Teil des Speicherplatzes wird von der Firmware belegt.
Diese kann, je nach Funktionsumfang, mehrere MB groß sein. Daher
kann sich die Größe des zur Verfügung stehenden Speichers nach
einem Firmware-Update durchaus ändern.
