Fase e polarità
Un altoparlante riproduce il suono tramite la conversione di un segnale elettrico in una
vibrazione fisica. A sua volta, la vibrazione spinge l’aria per creare onde sonore. Quan-
do configurate un sistema, l’obiettivo è che tutti gli altoparlanti si muovano in fase, con
i movimenti verso l’interno e l’esterno sincronizzati. Così si ottiene un suono uniforme
attraverso tutte le frequenze udibili. Se il
subwoofer è fuori fase rispetto agli altopar-
lanti full range rivolti al pubblico, potreste
avvertire una risposta alle basse frequenze
più debole, o addirittura una cancellazione
quando le basse frequenze provenienti da-
gli altoparlanti full range e dal subwoofer si
sovrappongono. Spesso questo fenomeno è
molto leggero, ma può risultare in “buchi”
nella musica e nella diminuzione dei bassi.
Idealmente, il subwoofer RSX18A dovrebbe essere posizionato sullo stesso piano delle
casse satellite. In realtà, sappiamo che ciò è improbabile, visto che impostando un
impianto PA esistono limitazioni legate agli spazi disponibili, ai supporti per gli alto-
parlanti, o anche alla forma stessa delle casse. Per risolvere il problema, l’RSX18A
ha un interruttore Phase che permette di invertire la polarità del subwoofer rispetto al
segnale sorgente. Avete quindi la possibilità di utilizzare il RSX18A in fase con il resto
del sistema PA, oppure fuori fase di 180°.
Per capire se l’audio riprodotto tramite il RSX18A è in fase con il resto del sistema
PA, suonate una traccia audio contenente molte basse frequenze attraverso il sistema.
Posizionatevi a una giusta distanza d’ascolto, così da sentire chiaramente l’audio del/
dei subwoofer e delle casse principali, e ascoltate fino a farvi un’idea del livello delle
basse frequenze. Premete l’interruttore Phase sul RSX18A per invertire la fase di 180°
e tornate alla posizione di ascolto (se possibile, fate premere da qualcun altro l’inter-
ruttore Phase, così da poter rimanere esattamente nella stessa posizione). Confrontate
il livello generale delle basse frequenze tra le due impostazioni. Quella corretta si
riconosce dalla maggiore presenza di basse frequenze. Se la situazione lo consente,
potete affinare l’allineamento di fase tra il RSX18A e le casse satelliti, avvicinando o
allontanando il subwoofer dalla posizione di ascolto.
