BATTERIES SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
To avoid an y risk of explosi on:
Make sure you have inserted the b atteries correctly.
Use only with 1,2V 400mAh type or equivalent rechar geable batteries pack.
Do not dispose of the batteries in a fire. The cell may explode.
Check with local code for possible special disposal instructions.
Do no t burn, disassemble, mutilate or puncture. Like other batteries of this type, toxic materials could be
released which can cause injury.
To reduce the risk of fire or personal injury, use only the battery listed in the users guide.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
Remove batteries if storing over 30 days.
GENERAL PRODUCT CARE
To keep your telephone working and loo king good, follow these guidelines:
Avoid putting the phone near heating appliances and devices that generate electr ical noise (for example,
motors or fluorescent lamps).
DO NOT expose to direc t sunlight or moisture.
Avoid dropping and other rough treatment t o the phone.
Clean with a soft cloth.
Never use a strong cleaning agent or abrasive powder because this will damage the finish.
Retain the original packaging in case you need to ship the phone at a later date.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Causes of poor reception:
Aluminium siding.
Foil backing on insulation.
Heating ducts and other metal construction can shield radio signals.
You are too cl ose to appliances such as m icrowaves, stoves, computers, etc ).
Atmospheric conditions, such as str ong storms.
Base installed in the basement or lower floor of the house.
Base i s plugged i nto an AC outlet wi th other el ectroni c devic es.
Baby monit or is using the same frequency.
Handset batteries is low.
You are out of range of the bas e.

Prefix (depending on version)
If a PABX is used in a private network, you can program the outside call prefix.
This function sets:
The PABX prefix number: this number will be added at the beginning of the number you dialled.
The number to be detected: if the number you dialled starts with the recorded sequence, this
sequence will be automatically deleted.
These two settings are not applied if number you dialled starts wi th
"#", "*" or "P".
1. Go to the menu " advanced set " / " auto prefix ".
- Select "detect digit " to define the number giving you access to the outside line.
- Select "prefix " to specify the «digits befor e prefix ».

Flash timing
If you connect your telephone to a private automatic branch exchange or use it in a foreign country,
you may need to modify the flash duration in order to use your telephone co rrectly with regard to the
following functionalities: outgoing 2nd c all, incoming 2nd call, confe rence call.
Contact your administrator, who will supply the appropriate time period, and proceed to the new
settings.
1. Go to the menu " advanced set " / " recall time ".
2. Select the appropriate time period, press .
Modifying the dialing mode (de pending on version)
Most telephone systems use the tone dialling mode. You can, however, use the pulse dialling mode:
1. Go to the menu " advanced set " / " dial mode ".
2. Two modes are available: " tone " and " pulse ".

First ring
Activating this function is only usef ul if your line does not have the CLIP service.
This menu allows you to arran ge for your telephone to ring when a call is received even if it is
connected on the same line with another device (a fax, a cord telephone, etc.).
This function is activated as default. It will be automa tically deactivated when a CLIP call is received
(the number of which will be displayed on the handset screen).

ANSWERING MACHINE (MODEL D17V ONLY )
Your telephone features an a nswering machine with pre-recorded announcements and the possibility
of remote access.
The answering machine function of you r telephone has two operating modes:
- Basic answering machine: an announcement indicates that you are not available. Your
correspondent cannot leave any messages
.
- Recording answering machine: an announcement tells your correspondents that they can leave
you a message, which they can record after a beep.
D17V model offer pre-recorded announcements in many languages and a remote
access to your answer ing machine.

Enabling / disabling the answering machine
From the base
To deactivate your answering machine, press the
key on the base. The indicator light of the
key goes off.
To activate your answering machine, press again the
key on the base. The ind icator light of the
key turns on blue and the announcement that will be used is broadcast.
Each time you power on your base, the answering machine goes to its previous
state (activated or deactivated).
From the handset
1. Go to "answ machine " / "answ. ON/OFF" .
2. Select "ON " or "off " using the or key to activate or deactivate your answering machine,
press
.
Modify the answering machine mode
1. Go to "answ machine "/ " answer m ode " / " answ. &record " (or " answer only ").
2. Select "answ. &record" or " answer only " using the or key, press
.
You will hear a confirmation tone.
Modifying the outgoing message (OGM)
Recording a personal outgoing message
1. Go to "ANSw machine "/ " record ogm "/ " answ. & record " (or "answer only ").
2. Select "record ogm " using the or , press
.
3. Clear state your announcement close to the base.
4. At the end of your announcement , press
. A confirmation beep is iss ued.
If you make a mistake while recording the announcement, repeat the operations described above
until you are satisfied with your announcement.
The maximum recording duration for an announcement is 120 seconds .
The recording start and end beeps are not part of your announcement.
The recording of a new announcement will automatically replace the previous
announcement.
Playing outgoing message
1. Go to "answ machine "/ "record ogm "/ " answ. &record. " (or "answer only ").
2. Select "play " using the or key, press
.
The announcement that will be used is broadcast.
After broadcasting the announcement, your answering machine will return to standby mode.
If no announcement is recorded, you will hear a beep.

Delete your personal outgoing message
If you have not saved a personal announcement, the answering machine will
automatically use one of the pre-recorded announ cements.
1. Go to "answ machine " / "record ogm" Answ. / &record " (or " answer only ").
2. Select "delete " using the or key, press
.
The anonymous announcement corresponding to the current answering machine mode
(simple/recorder) is automatically played .
At the end of the playback, the announcement is deleted and you are back to the previous
menu.
Adjusting the volum e of the base speaker
Press successively the top or bottom th e o n the base until you obtain a satisfactory level.
Playing messages u sing the base
If you have received new messages, the in dicator light of the k ey flashes blue and the ic on
flashes on the handset screen.
Press the
key to listen t o your messages:
- If you have new messages, only the latter will be played, from the most recent one to the oldest one.
- If you have no new messages, all the older messages will be played, from the most recent to the
oldest one.
A beep is issued after each message is broadcast and the next message is broadcast automatically.
For the k ey to operate correctly,
Use it only after 2 seconds as from the start of message playback.
When a message is being left by a correspondent, you can open the line (by
pressing the key) to answer at any time.
Listen again to the current message
Press the bottom of the key du ring the playback of the message.
Listen again to the previous message
Press twice the bottom of the key to hear the previous message again.
Go to the next mess age
During playback of the message, press the top of t he
key to skip to t he next message.

Stop the playback of the messages
Press the key to stop the playback of the messages.
When you press the key a second time the pl ayback resumes fr om the first
message.
Playing messages using the handset
If you have received new messages, the indicator light of the key flashes blu e and the icon
flashes on the handset.
1. Go to "answ machine " / " Play ".

Deleting messages
Deleting the current message
During the playback of the message, press the
key.
The message in progress is deleted:
- If you have other messages, the next message is broadcast.
- Otherwise, the answering machine returns to standby mode.
Deleting all messages already played back
1. In standby mode, hold down the
key until you hear a beep.
This beep info rms you that all your mes sages already pl ayed back have been de leted.

1. Go to "answ machine "/ " delete all" .

A beep indicates that all messages already played back have been deleted.
ANSWERING MACHINE SETUP (MODEL D17V ONLY )
Number of rings
This parameter enables you to set the nu mber of times your telephone rings before the answering
machine answers a call. The number of rings can be set between 2 and 7.
You can also select the "ECONOMY "mode . The " ECONOMy" mode automatically determines the number of
rings: If there are no new messages on the answering machine, the number of rings will be 4,
otherwise the number of rings will be 2.
1. Go to "answ machine "/ " settings " / "ring delay ".
2. In the list, select the desired number of rings (between 2 and 7) using the or key or the
"ECONOMy " mode, Press .
Remote access to answering ma chine
Your answering m achine can be interrogated rem otely. This function le ts you play back your
messages and set up your answering machine from another telephone located outside your home.

Activate/deactivate remote access
1. Go to "answ machine "/ "settings " / " remote acc. ".
2. Use or to sele ct "activate" or " deactivate " setting.
3. Press
key to confir m your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone
Remote access control
To remotely access your answering machine: Dial your telephone number and wait for the answering
mach ine to c ome on.
When your outgoing message is played, press # and enter your remote access code (0000 by
default).
The code for remote access to the answering machine corresponds in fact to the
PIN Code of your Base. This code is 0000 by default, and it can be modified from
the "ADVANCED SET / CHANGE PIN" menu (refer to the paragraph Base master PIN code
page 11 ).
A beep will indicate access to the answering machine. You can carry out the following operations :
1: Previous message. 6 : Delete the current message
2 : Listen to your messages / back to the
beginning of the message
8 : Stop the playback of the message
3 : Next message 9 : Switch OFF the answering machi ne
Memory status
Your answering machine has a capacity of 15 minutes (2 minutes for the OGM and 13 minutes for
the messages) or 59 messages.
When your answering machine reaches its maximum recording capacity, you can no longer receive
new messages.

Preservation of the environment is an essential concern of Sagemcom. The desire of Sagemcom is to
operate systems observing the environment and consequently it has decided to integrate environmental

Packaging
The presence of the logo (green dot) means tha t a contribution is paid to an approved
national organisation to improve packaging recovery and recycling infrastructures.
To facilitate recycl ing, please respect the sortin g rules set up locally for this kind of waste .
Batteries
If your product contains batteries, they must be disposed of at appropriate collection
points

The product
The crossed-out waste bin stuck on the product or its accessories means that the product
belongs t o the fami ly of elec trical and electr onic equi pments .
In this respect, the European regulations ask you to dispose of it selectively:
x At sa les points in the event of the purchase o f similar equipment.

At the collection points made available to you locally (drop-off centre, selective
collection, etc.).
In this way you can participate in the re-use and upgrading of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Waste,

In order to apply the guarantee, you should contact the Sagemcom Helpdesk or the retailer where you
purchase d the equ ipment. Pr oof of pur chase wi ll be req uired in eit her cas e.
Please make sure that you use your equipment only for the purpose for which it was designed and under
normal usage conditions.
Sagemcom do not accept a ny liability for the e quipment if used outsid e the frame of its origin al designed
purpose or any consequence that may arise from this usage.
Should any malfunction arise, the Sagemcom Helpdesk or your retailer will advise you how to proceed.
A) Genera l Guarantee conditio ns
Sagemcom undertakes to remedy by repair or exchange at its own convenience, free of charge for labour
and replacement parts, any defects in the equipment during the guarantee period of 12 (twelve) months or 3
(three) months for accessories, from the date of original invoice of the Equipment, where those defects are a
result of faulty workmanship.
Unless the custo mer has concluded with Sagemcom a main tenance contract in respect of the equipmen t
which specifically provides for repairs to be carried out at the customer's premises, the rep airs will not be
carried out on the equipment at the customer premises.
The custom er mus t howev er retur n the defec tive equi pment at his/ her own ex pense, to the addr ess supp lied
by the Sa gemcom H elpdesk or by th e retail er.
In the c ase that a pro duct nee ds to be sent in for a repai r, it m ust al ways be accomp anied by a proo f of
purchase (which is not altered, written on or in any way made illegible) showing that the product is sti ll under
guarantee. In the case that no proof of pu rchase is enclosed, the Sagemcom repair centre will u se the
production date as its reference for establishing the guarantee status of the product.
Apart fr om all leg al oblig atory rul es, Sag emcom, d o not giv e any Gua rantee, e ither i mplicit or explic it which
is not se t force i n the prese nt sec tion, an d can not b e held r esponsi ble for any dire ct or indir ect, m aterial or
immaterial damage, either in or out of the frame of the present guarantee.
If any provision of this guarantee sh all be held to be in whole or i n part invalid or illegal due to an obligatory
rule applicable to consumers pursuant to their national legislation, such invalidit y or illegality shall not impair
or affec t the remai ning prov isions or parts of this guara ntee.
This guarantee does not affect the Customer statutory rights.
B) Exclusions From Guarantee
Sagemcom shall have no liability u nder the guarantee in respect of:
x Damage, defects, breakdown or malf unction due to one or more of the following:
- Failure to properly follow the installation process and instructions for use
- An external cause to the equipment (including but not limited to: lightening, fire, shock, vandalism,
inappropriate conditions of electrical network or water damage o f any nature)
- Modifications made without the written approval of S agemcom
- Unsuitable operati ng conditions, particularly of temperature and humidity
- Repair or maintenance of th e equipment by persons not authorised by Sagemcom
x Wear and tear from normal daily use of the equi pment and its accessories
x Damage due to insufficient or bad packaging of equipment when returned to Sagemcom
x Usage of new versions of softw are without the previous approval of Sagemcom
x Work on any equipment or software modified or added without the prior written consent of Sagemcom
x Malfunctions not resulting from the Equipment or from software installed in user workstations for the
purpose of use of the equ ipment
Communication problems related to an unsuitable environment including:
- Problems related to access and/or connection to the Internet su ch as interruptions by a ccess
network s or malf unction of the line u sed by the subscr iber or his corres pondent
- Transmission faults (for example poor geographical coverage b y radio and TV transmitters,
interference or poor line quality)
- Local network faults (wiring, servers, workstations) or the failure of the transmission network (such
as but not limited to interferences, fault or poor quality of the network
- Modification of the parameters of the cellular or broadcast network carried out after the sale of the
Product

x Normal servicing (as defined in the user guide supplied with the equipment) as well as malfunctioning
due to servicing not being carried out. Servicing costs are in any event alw ays borne by the customer.
x Malfunctions resulting from the usage of products , consumables or accessories not compatible with the
equipment.
C)
Out of Guarantee Repairs
In the cases set forth in B) as well as a fter expiry of the guarantee period, the customer must ask the
Authorised Sagemcom Repair Centre for a cost estimation prior to work being carried out.
In such cases, the repair and delivery costs will be invoiced to the customer.
The foregoing shall apply unless otherwise agreed in writing with the customer and only for the United
Kingdom and Ireland.

the proof of purchase that they gave you on the day of purchase.
Should any malfunctioning arise, the retailer will advise you what to do.
For the warranty to apply, you should ensure that the product was used in accordance with the instructions
for use and the purpose for use, and that you have at your disposal the sales invoice or recei pt stating the
date of purchase, the name of the retailer, the r eference and the serial number of the product.
No coverage shall be given under this warranty if the followi ng conditions are applicable:
x The required documents have been modified or altered in order to take advantage of the w arranty.
x The ma nufactu ring num bers, pr oduct br ands or la bels have b een alter ed or mad e illegibl e.
x Interventions on the product have been made by an unau thorized pe rson.
x The product has b een subjected to abnormal or improper use.
x The product has b een damaged by external factors such as lightning, over-voltage, moisture,
accidental damage, improper care as well as all Acts of God.
This present warranty does not affect the consumer rights that you may have under the laws in effect in your
country.
