12.1. HEARING AID COMPATIBILITY
If you are suffering from hearing loss, the phone may be difficult to use. Even if you wear a
hearing aid, you may have “whistling” problems when you try to use a phone.
Some hearing aids have a “T” switch that allows you to hear with compatible phones and which
prevents high-pitch whistling. The CC220R phone has an inductive coupler that provides
compatibility with hearing aids having a “T” position . The CC220R handset emits a
magnetic field when used. The “T” magnetic induction coil inside the hearing aid “hears” the
magnetic field and converts it back into sound.
If your hearing aid is provided with a “T” position, follow these steps:
Before dialling a number, set your hearing aid to “T”.
- On programmable hearing aids, you can select the “T” position using the remote
control.
- Increase the hearing aid volume.
- If you use a round-the-ear hearing aid:
Hold the phone earpiece against the hearing aid (NOT against your ear)- Move the
phone earpiece along the hearing aid to the point you hear best.
- If you use an in-the-ear hearing aid:
Hold the phone earpiece against the hearing aid.
- When you have finished your call, turn down your hearing aid volume again and set its
switch back to the “Microphone” position.
Tips when using hearing aids not provided with a “T” position
If you use a round-the-ear hearing aid, hold the phone earpiece against the top of your
hearing aid (NOT against your ear).
If you use an in-the-ear hearing aid, hold the phone earpiece against the hearing aid.
