TOASTING
Toasting involves exposing bread to a controlled heat, which causes a chemical reaction called the
‘Maillard Reaction’. This doesn’t just brown the bread, but alters the avour and texture, which is why toast
tastes so good!
Since toasting is a combination of drying then cooking the bread, it is aected by various factors such as
dierences in the bread’s thickness, freshness and surface texture. Local and regional variations in
household electricity voltages can also have an eect on toasting time which is why we would advise to
initially try dierent toasting settings in order to nd your perfect shade of toast.
TOASTING BREAD
1. Sit the toaster upright on a rm, level, heat-resistant surface.
2. Put the plug into the power socket.
3. Turn the browning control to the required setting. The mid part (3-6) of the browning control has
more ‘click’ positions between the numbers which give you more precise control over the browning
setting in the medium/dark toasting range. Because your toaster toasts more quickly than you may
be used to, we suggest that you start o on a low setting and make small adjustments as required
until you gain experience using your toaster.
4. Put bread into the toasting slot (maximum thickness 25mm).
5. Press the lever down fully. It won’t lock down unless the toaster is connected to the electricity supply.
6. The light will come on and elements will heat up.
7. When it’s done, the toast will pop up.
8. If you need to, you can use the toast extraction tongs to help remove smaller items from the toasting
slots.
9. To stop toasting, press the 5 button.
You may raise the lever further, to remove small items.
You may raise the lever during toasting, to check progress, then lower it again.
FROZEN BREAD
1. Leave the browning control at your favoured setting, insert the frozen bread, lower the lever, then
press the f button.
2. The f light will come on, and the toasting time will be altered automatically to give the same degree
of browning you get with unfrozen bread.
REHEATING TOAST
1. Leave the browning control at your favoured setting, insert the bread, lower the lever, then press the
m button.
2. The m light will come on, and the toast will be given a short burst of heat.
3. Only reheat plain, unbuttered toast.
BUN WARMER
Don’t use the bun warmer to warm frozen, buttered, coated, iced, or lled buns.
1. Sit the bun warmer on top of the toaster, with the feet inside the slots.
2. Sit the buns on top of the bun warmer.
3. Set the browning level to 2, then lower the lever.
4. When the lever pops up, remove the warmed buns.
5. Don’t touch the bun warmer wires – they’ll be hot.
6. Remove the bun warmer before using the toaster normally.
