ROTWILD USER MANUAL
manuals of the suspension elements.
A rule of thumb to apply is that, when
seated on it, the bicycle should deect
ca. 10-15% (Racing), ca. 20% (Cross
Country) or ca. 25% (Freeride/Extreme) of
the total spring deection.
Tip: Unscrew the valve cap and screw the
supplied air pump on to the valve. Slide
the red rubber ring on the shock absorber
all the way to the top. Now get onto your
bicycle, with that the shock absorber will
deect and the rubber ring is pushed
to the top along with it. On the basis of
the chart you can easily and comfortably
recalculate the spring deection used. If
the shock absorber deects too far, the
air pressure should be increased up to
the specied value.
Shock absorption
The level of shock absorption can be ad-
justed externally by the red hand wheel.
With that valve openings inside the oil
bed are altered and the ow rate control-
led. Turn the hand wheel in very small
steps or clicks and check if the respondi-
ng qualities change.
Do a test run with the bicycle on a terrain
with varied conditions. If the chain stay
jolts several times the spring hardness
must be increased.

WILD service section on www.rotwild.de
Maintenance and cleaning
Maintenance of the chain stay is limited
to the through cleaning of the bearing
area and of the suspension strut. Do not
use a steam cleaner or caustic detergent!
Do regular checks to determine whether
the bearings of the rear swing arm or the
bearings of the suspension strut present
vertical play.
To check it, pick the bicycle up by the
saddle and try to move the rear wheel
back and forth to the sides. If neces-
sary, ask someone to help you hold the
front of the bicycle stable.
To test the play on the suspension
put the rear wheel down softly on the
ground and lift it again gently. Listen
for rattling noises.
If required, have any potential play
immediately xed by your ROTWILD
dealer because the risk of further more
severe damage exist.
Inspect the alignment of the suspen-
sion parts from behind after a fall. If
necessary, ask your dealer for advice!
Manufacturers of suspension struts
provide instruction manuals in which full
details about adjustment possibilities are
given. Please read the instruction manu-
als carefully before you start to make any
adjustments.
Suspension parts are constantly sub-
jected to dirt and water. Modern sus-
pension systems are developed and
constructed for these conditions – it is
therefore not necessary to protect these
with rubber or neoprene covers.
Check the air pressure in your rear shock
before every ride.
