b) Vacuum sealing with rolls
Cut off the required length of roll (see fig. A with cutting device 12). Now seal one open side of
the bag as follows:
Open the cover (5), until this locks in place. Place one open side of the bag on to the sealing bar
(9) with the plain side up (fig. B).
ATTENTION: The bag must not reach into the vacuum chamber (10) or overlie the gasket (8).
Shut the cover (5). First press down on both sides of the cover with your thumbs and then press
the LOCK buttons (6) so that they snap in place (fig. C). Press the START/STOP/MAN SEAL but-
ton (1) to carry out the vacuum sealing process (fig. D). Wait until the ON/VACUUM/SEAL indi-
cator goes off (2). Press the manual valve (4) to open the cover (fig. E). Open the cover (5) and
remove the bag. Check the sealing seam. A correct sealing seam should be a smooth, straight
seam without wrinkles and the seam should no longer show any design of the lower layer (fig. F)
Vacuum sealing with “Executive” containers and universal lids
The containers and universal lids with the star-shaped knob (fig. N) make the vacuum sealing
process easier as they allow the connection hose to be inserted directly into the middle hole of
the knob (fig. O). Use the universal lids (available with a diameter of 100 mm and 125 mm) for
preserving jars and temperature resistant pots and bowls.
ATTENTION: Vacuuming pressure may cause very thin plastic and glass containers to implode
and cause injury. These are therefore not suitable for vacuum sealing with universal lids.
Fill the container leaving at least 3 cm gap from the upper rim. Place the lid on the rim of the
container. Turn the knob to “VACUUM” (fig. N). Put one end of the connection hose (13) into the
hose port of the appliance (3) and the other end into the knob of the cover of the container (13)
(fig. O). Snap the cover in place (5) with the LOCK-buttons (6) and press the START/STOP/MAN
SEAL button (1). The appliance carries out the vacuum sealing procedure automatically and
switches off at the end of the process. Remove the connection hose from the knob of the con-
tainer. Turn the knob to “CLOSED”. To open the container turn the knob to “OPEN”. The sound
of air rushing back should be heard. This sound shows that the contents have been stored in a
vacuum.
Vacuum sealing with “Family” containers
Convenient multi-purpose containers for perfect storage in pantries and refrigerators. They are
perfect for frequent use, e.g. for storing dry and fragile food, such as biscuits, flour, coffee or
rice. They are not suitable for freezing or for use in microwaves. Fill the containers, leaving at
least 3 cm of space to the upper rim. Place the lid on the rim of the container. Put one end of the
connection hose into the hose port of the appliance (3) and the other end into the knob of the
cover of the container (13) (fig. P).
Snap the cover in place (5) using the LOCK-buttons (6) and press the START/STOP/MAN SEAL
button (1). The appliance carries out the vacuum sealing procedure automatically and switches
off at the end of the process. Remove the connection hose from the knob of the lid.
To open the container press the middle knob (14) (fig. P).
Vacuum sealing of jars with metal lids (Leifheit-type)
Select an appropriate vacuuming cap to fit the size of the jar. Fill the jar and leave at least 3 cm
of space to the upper rim of the jar. Put one end of the connection hose into the hose port of
the appliance (3) and the other end into the vacuuming cap (15). Put the vacuuming cap directly
on the jar with the lid (16). Then vertically press down the cap in order to ensure the cap is cor-
rectly fitted on the lid (fig. Q). Snap the cover in place (5) using the LOCK-buttons (6) and press
the START/STOP/MAN SEAL button (1). The appliance carries out the vacuum sealing procedure
automatically and switches off at the end of the process. Please ensure that the vacuuming cap
