For your safety
Warning: Read all safety advices and instructions. Non-observance of the safety advices and
instructions may cause electric shock, fi re and/or bad injuries.
• Never leave children unsupervised with the packing material and the product. There is the hazard of
choking by packing material and the hazard of life by burns. Children often underrate the risks.
• Do not operate the appliance in explosive environments, where infl ammable liquids or gases are located.
• Children and persons, not having the knowledge or experience in operating the appliance or having
handicaps of physical, sensorial or mental nature must not operate the appliance without supervision or
instruction by a person, responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised in order to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.
• Do not leave the appliance unattended during operation. Only use original accessories.
• Pull the mains plug after each use.
• In order to prevent the Raclette from falling off the table due to an accidental tearing at the power cord,
we recommend winding the power cord leading to the table several times around a table-leg for fi xing
purpose.
• Place the appliance on a heat-resistant, stable and even surface and do not operate it in the vicinity of
other sources of heat (oven, gas fl ame etc.). The space above the appliance has to be free. The distance
to walls must be at least 20 cm on all sides. Unhindered air circulation has to be ensured.
• Attention! Hazard of burns! During use, some areas will become hot. These can still exist after switching
off the appliance. Be aware of the hazard of burns when touching the appliance.
• Attention! Hazard of fi re! Superheated fats and oils can infl ame. Therefore, food with fats or oils may
only be prepared under supervision.
• Keep the power cord away from the hot surface also the power cords of neighbouring electrical appliances.
• Attention! Hazard of fi re! Do not operate the Raclette in the proximity of or below curtains, wall cup-
boards or other infl ammable materials.
• Place the appliance on a heat-resistant underground (no varnished tables, no table cloths). Otherwise,
the appliance and/or pieces of furniture may be damaged.
• Do not at all operate this unit with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.
• Check the power cord regularly for damage or deterioration. Do not operate the appliance when the
power cord or the mains plug is damaged.
Attention! Damaged power cords present a hazard of life by electric shock. Have appliances, which do
not work faultlessly or which are damaged, immediately and only checked and repaired by the after-sales
service.
• Do not misuse the power cord for unplugging the appliance. Keep the power cord away from hot surfa-
ces, sharp edges and mechanical forces. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of an electric
shock.
• Do not use the appliance as depositing rack or worktop and do not transport the appliance when it is
hot. Do not use it as a space heater.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water for cleaning. Make sure no water or steam may infi ltrate the
appliance from below either.
• This electrical appliance complies with the relevant safety regulations. In case the appliance or the po-
wer cord is damaged, immediately pull the mains plug. Repairs must be conducted by authorised specia-
list shops only. Improper repairs may pose considerable dangers to the user.
• Any damage resulting from non-observance of these safeguards will not be covered by warranty.
Prior to initial use
Wipe the casing with a damp cloth and dry it thoroughly.
Clean the pans, the spatulas and the grill plate with hot water prior to initial use.
Prior to initial use, the protective coating of the heating elements has to be burnt in.
Heat up the appliance – without pans! – for approx. 10 minutes with maximum power. Please do not be
bothered by the slight, harmless smoke and smell that will be generated for a short while.
