How to add water during cooking
The water tank holds 1.7 litres, this is enough for about 80 minutes of steaming.
Foods requiring long cooking times may require water to be replenished.
In such case, switch off the appliance by resetting the timer at 0. Now carefully remove
the steam trays and the condensate collection basin and rell the water tank with
sufcient warm water.
Attention: The appliance will become hot during steaming: Hazard of burning!
Useful tips
The steaming times shown in the chart are only approximate. Times can vary according to
the size of food, quantities in the steam trays, the freshness of food and personal tastes.
As users become more familiar with steam cookers, steaming times can be gauged.
One layer of foods will steam more quickly than several layers. Therefore steaming time
increases with quantity of food, e.g. 2 lb of cauliower orets require longer than 1 lb.
To ensure best results, make sure that all pieces are of a similar size. If pieces are of
different sizes and have to be layered, place the smaller pieces on top.
Do not cram food into the steam tray. Leave enough room between the pieces to ensure
a good supply of steam circulation.
When steaming larger amounts, stir the food with a long-handled spoon after half of the
steaming time.
Never steam frozen meat, poultry or seafood. Always thaw everything completely rst.
All of the times shown in the steaming chart apply to their use with cold water. To slightly
reduce steaming times, warm (not boiling) water can be used. To steam rice you can
purchase an appropriate rice bowl, which is available as an accessory item. The rice bowl
is an ideal container for steaming other foods such as fruit, vegetables, puddings etc.
Using both steam trays
Place the largest pieces or those with the longest steaming times (rice also) in the bottom
steam tray. When using the upper trays, steaming times are usually a little longer, therefore
add a further 5 to 8 minutes.
As taste can spread through condensation, place meat and sh in the bottom steam tray.
When preparing foods with different steaming times, start with the food with the longest
steaming time in the larger bottom tray. If the remaining steaming time is as long as that
for those foods with the shortest steaming time, carefully remove the cover and place the
smaller upper steam tray with the food still to be steamed on top of it. Then place the cover
on top again.
The smaller upper steam tray can only be placed on top of the larger bottom steam tray.
