Was sind Fußlagen?
Die Zugriegel (Harmonic Bars) bestimmen gemäß den Pfeifen einer
Pfeifenorgel die Lautstärke einer bestimmten Tonhöhe. Die Zugriegel sind
von links nach rechts in aufsteigender Tonhöhe angeordnet. Der [8’]-
Zugriegel ist die Basis-Tonhöhe. Die Verkürzung dieser Pfeife um die Hälfte
( 4') erhöht die Tonhöhe um eine Oktave, die Verlängerung einer Pfeife
um das Doppelte ( 16') erniedrigt die Tonhöhe um eine Oktave.
Bei alten Orgeln konnte das Tonhöhenverhältnis nicht für alle Tasten des
Manuals verwirklicht werden. Im oberen Bereich des Manuals erklangen
die Töne der hohen “Fußlagen“ eine Oktave tiefer, im unteren Bereich
wurden die tiefsten Fußlagen eine Oktave nach oben verschoben. Dieser
Oktavumbruch (“Fold Back“) war nötig, weil es mechanisch zu schwer
war, Tonräder auch für sehr hohe Töne zu bauen. Als Nebeneffekt wurden
so unnötig hohe Anteile im Klang unterdrückt, was unseren Ohren
gefälliger ist.
