7. REGOLE PER LA SICUREZZA E SUGGERIMENTI PRATICI PER RIDURRE AL MINIMO

I RISCHI NOTI LEGATI AL CICLISMO

1. USO DEL CASCO. Ogni volta che montiamo in sella, occorre indossare il casco e

questo deve essere ben allacciato e calzare perfettamente. Se non si usa il casco,

la testa rimane esposta e vulnerabile. L’uso costante di un casco che soddisfi gli

standard di sicurezza consentirà di evitare infortuni.

2. INDUMENTI/OCCHIALI Si consiglia inoltre di indossare occhiali protettivi e indumenti

appositamente progettati per il ciclismo.

3. OSSERVAZIONE DELLE REGOLE STRADALI. Occorre conoscere e attenersi alle

normative riguardanti la circolazione delle biciclette. Queste normative variano da

paese a paese, ma esistono alcune regole stradali valide ovunque che desideriamo

sottolineare:

• In un gruppo di ciclisti, spostarsi in fila indiana;

• Non guidare mai contromano;

• Utilizzare le mani facendo i gesti corretti e ripeterli ogni volta che è necessario;

• Cercare di anticipare eventi imprevisti ed essere consapevoli sia che è più

difficile notare un ciclista nel traffico, sia che molti conducenti non conoscono

né rispettano i diritti dei ciclisti;

• Utilizzare segnaletica catarifrangente e indumenti di colori chiari che riflettono

meglio la luce; e

• In generale, guidare la bicicletta in modo cauto in quanto si è vulnerabili quando

si è in sella sulla strada e, per questo motivo, occorre cercare di anticipare

gli eventi e agire sul principio di autodifesa, prevedendo comportamenti

potenzialmente pericolosi degli altri.

4. SUGGERIMENTI TECNICI MENTRE SI È IN SELLA.

• Evitare di pedalare quando ci si sposta lentamente e nelle curve strette. Le

biciclette da corsa sono dotate di un passo corto e la punta dei piedi potrebbe

toccare la ruota anteriore. A velocità normale ciò non accade, in quanto non si

gira abbastanza il manubrio;

• Se piove e la strada è bagnata, o in generale in condizioni che riducono

l’aderenza delle ruote sulla pavimentazione stradale, utilizzare la massima

cautela, cercando non solo di guidare lentamente, ma anche di evitare brusche

frenate. Quando piove ed è nuvoloso, la visibilità si riduce sia per voi che per gli

altri e sia il tempo di frenata che la distanza di frenata aumentano;

• Prestare particolare ATTENZIONE agli incroci pedonali e alla presenza di foglie

sul manto stradale dato che è proprio in questi frangenti che si perde totalmente

l’aderenza.
