Parking
When parking your Ridley motorcycle, stop the engine and remove the main switch key, get off.
WARNING: Do not come in contact with the exhaust pipes after it has been running. They will be very hot and
will cause serious burns if touched. Park the motorcycle in a place where pedestrians or children are not likely to
touch the motorcycle. Do not park the motorcycle on a slope of soft ground the motorcycle may fall over.
Periodic Maintenance
Periodic inspection, adjustment, and lubrication will keep your motorcycle in the best, safest and most efficient
condition as possible. Safety is an obligation of the motorcycle operator and owner. Some important points of
motorcycle inspection, adjustment, and lubrication are explained in the following pages.
WARNING: If you are not familiar with motorcycle service, a qualified Ridley dealer should do this work.
Proper periodic maintenance of your motorcycle is important in order to enjoy long-lived pleasurable service.
Emission service is especially important to the maintenance service. This service requires specialized data,
knowledge and equipment. Ridley dealers are trained and equipped to perform these particular services.
WARNING: Modifications to this motorcycle not approved by Ridley may cause loss of performance, excessive
emissions, reduced reliability, and cause the motorcycle to be unsafe for use. Contact a Ridley dealer before
making any changes.
Guidelines for Engine Break-in
Miles Throttle Position Notes
0-30 Miles 0-1/3 throttle position Avoid prolonged operation above 1/3 throttle. Vary
the speed of the motorcycle. Do not operate the
motorcycle at one set throttle position.
30-60 Miles 0-1/2 Throttle Position Avoid prolonged operation above ½ throttle. Follow
the other guidelines in the step above.
60-100 Miles 0-3/4 Throttle Position Avoid Cruising speeds above ¾ throttle.
At 100 Miles Perform the 100-mile service.
100-500 Miles Avoid prolonged full-throttle operation. Vary the engine speed occasionally. Follow
the pre-ride inspection (page 26) and the periodic maintenance chart on page 33.
At 500 Miles Perform the 500-mile service.
CAUTION:
If any operating trouble should occur during the break-in period, contact a Ridley dealer immediately.
