SAFETY WITH YOUR DEVICE

Home Pulsed Light (HPL) technology in your device provides extra safety with lower energy

levels. HPL achieves long-term hair reduction results at a fraction of the energy level used in

other light-based hair reduction equipment. The HPL technology reduces the risk of harm or

complications, and contributes to your overall safety. Your device has additional features to

protect your eyes and your skin.

• Eyes: Light pulses are only active when the treatment window is in full contact with the

skin. Nevertheless, do not look at the treatment window when you are using the device.

This may cause damage to the eyes.

• Skin: Your skin is never in direct contact with the optical lens through which light pulses

are emitted.

BEFORE YOU START USING THE COMPACT CONTROL HPL

Be sure to read all warnings and safety information. Before you begin, check to see if

the device is suitable for you.

Use the skin and hair chart at the front of this manual and the integrated skin sensor to

determine if this device is right for you (Fig 1).

WARNING: The Compact Control HPL is not suitable for very dark or black skin. It is not

eective on light or grey hair and is less eective on blonde and red hair.

For facial use: Only suitable for female facial hair on the cheeks, sideburns, chin, neck areas

and above the lips (Fig 2).

DO NOT use on the eyes, eyebrows or eyelashes. Doing so can cause serious and

permanent eye injury.

SKIN TYPE

• Do not use on naturally dark skin, as it may result in burns, blisters and changes in skin

colour.

EXPOSURE TO THE SUN

• The lowest energy level (1) is designed for safe use even after sun exposure.

• If you use energy levels 2-5, avoid further exposure to the sun for 4 weeks before and 2

weeks after your treatment. This is because higher quantities of melanin expose the skin

to greater risk when using any method of light-based hair removal. This applies to all

skin types, even those that don’t seem to tan quickly.

• To protect recently treated skin when exposed to sunlight, be sure to thoroughly apply

sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher, for 2 weeks after each hair reduction session.

AREAS NOT TO TREAT:

• Do not use on the scalp or ears.

• Do not use on face or neck (male).

• Do not use above the cheekbone (females).
