ASSEMBLY OF FIREBOWL
Ensure that the Firebowl is positioned on a permanent flat, level, heat resistant non-flammable surface away
from flammable items.
Ensure Firebowl has a minimum of 2m overhead clearance and has a minimum of 2m clearance from other
surrounding items.
Decide on the location and place on the stand. The assembled Firebowl is heavy and it is recommended the
unit is not moved once positioned or while in use. If moved, use two persons to lift and do not drag across the
floor. Ensure the model is stable prior to use.
Before use, place a minimum layer of 8cm of normal (building) sand in the base. This will help protect the
Firebowl from excessive heat and cracking.
Fuel must not be burnt directly on the Firebowl base.
The Firebowl has been pre-treated with sealant but regular retreating throughout the season with a protective
seal for ceramics is recommended to extend the life and to help protect the product from weathering.
This Firebowl requires curing before use. (SEE BELOW)
The unit may be left outside all year if an Redfire Protective Cover is used to help protect it from cold weather.
In very cold spells (below -3°C), it is recommended your Firebowl also be moved into a shed, garage or under
cover.
The Firebowl surface will age and discolour naturally from first use this is to be expected.
DO NOT allow rain water to pool in the Firebowl.
CURING THE FIREBOWL
To start a fire, place a small quantity of kindling wood and rolled newspaper in the unit on top of the sand.
Using heat resistant gloves, light the paper and allow a flame to build up. Once sufficiently alight add a small
log and allow to burn slowly. Allow the log to burn out and the Firebowl to cool.
Repeat this procedure at least twice more. This seals any pores with soot and cures the Firebowl. You can then
build larger fires using a couple of logs. This is sufficient and produces enough heat.
DO NOT overload the unit with fuel (untreated wood or logs) or Heat Logs if the fire is too intense this could
damage the Firebowl.
Fuel should never protrude from the top of the Firebowl.
STARTING A FIRE AFTER THE UNIT HAS BEEN FULLY CURED
To start a fire, place a small quantity of kindling wood and rolled newspaper in the unit on top of the sand.
Using heat resistant gloves, light the paper and allow a
flame to build up. Once sufficiently alight, add a small log and further logs as and when required.
DO NOT use charcoal in the Firebowl.
DO NOT overload the unit with fuel (untreated wood or logs)if the fire is too intense this could damage the
Firebowl.
Fuel should never protrude from the top of the Firebowl.
