PLAYING THE CHARACTER CARDS:

The following rules apply for playing the

character cards:

• On your turn, you must play at least

one character card.

• Character cards may only be laid at one

of the eight card spaces next to the

current location card (see illustration).

• All character cards may be laid on

empty card spaces or on card spaces

where a character card has already been laid.

However, the following order must be adhered to:

All character cards can be laid on a Gollum card.

Dwarf cards and dwarf pair cards may be laid on Bilbo cards.

Gandalf cards may be laid on Bilbo cards, dwarf cards and

dwarf pair cards.

Due to the magic ring, the Gollum card may be laid on all

character cards.

Character cards of the same value may not be covered!

For example: A Bilbo card may not be laid on another Bilbo card

and a dwarf pair card may not be laid on either another dwarf

pair card or a dwarf card.
