Yang Liu's work has won many prizes in
international competition. Her works have been
displayed all over the world in museums and at
various exhibitions.
Yang Liu is responsible for a host of prestigious
design projects spanning corporate identity,
advertisements and exhibitions, including the
overall visual design for the Chinese pavilion at
the London Book Fair 2012.

In this game of memory® each red card (East) has a matching
blue card (West) to form one pair. Illustrations and captions
explaining which pictures belong together and what they mean
can be found in the appendix.

What is the object of the game?
The object is to collect as many pairs as
possible. The winner is the player with the most
pairs at the end of the game.
How do we start?
The cards are placed face down on the table
and shuffled. Players decide whether the cards

Yang Liu was born in 1976 in
Beijing. At the age of 13 she
moved to Germany with her
family. After completion of her studies at the
Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der
Künste Berlin), she has worked as a designer in
Singapore, London, Berlin and New York. In
2004 she founded her own design studio in
Berlin. In addition to her occupation as a
designer she is also a professor and head of the
Communications Design department at the
Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule.
Yang Liu's poster series “Ost trifft West” (East
meets West) has become a symbol of cultural
exchange. The posters have been exhibited in
over 30 museums and public buildings,
including the Chicago City Hall, the German
Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, the Staatliche
Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the Museum für
Kommunikation Berlin, at the Frankfurt Book
Fair, and at the International Book Fair Beijing.
She also published a book based on these very
posters, entitled “Ost trifft West” (East meets
West), which was a bestseller.
