Who begins?
It could be the youngest, the smallest, the
oldest... you decide. Play moves in a clockwise
direction.
How is memory
®
played?
On their turn players turn over, one after the
other, two cards.
If the picture on the cards are identical, the
player gets to keep the pair and may turn over
two other cards. This is continued until a player
turns over two cards which do not make a pair.
These two cards are turned over once again,
face down, and the player’s turn is over.
Cards turned over should be left lying long
enough for everyone to see the picture before
they are turned face down again. The position
of the cards should not be changed.
What is not allowed?
If a player turns over two cards which do not
match, but knows where a third is which would
give a pair, they may not turn this third card
over on that turn. They have to wait until their
next turn.
End of the game
The game ends when the last pair has been
collected. To find the winner, each player builds
a stack with their cards. The player with the
highest stack wins.
In the event of a draw, another round is played
using 9 pairs of cards.
Suggestion
In the first game, or when younger children are
playing, a reduced number of cards can be used.
The number of cards in play can be increased
gradually.
