Do not use the power chair while the drive motors are
disengaged! Do not disengage the drive motors when
the power chair is on an incline, as the unit could roll
on its own! Only engage the freewheel mode when on a
level surface.
It is important to remember that when your power chair
is in freewheel mode, the braking system is disengaged.
To operate the manual freewheel levers:
1. Push down both manual freewheel levers for freewheel
mode (drive motor disengaged). See figure 2.
2. Pull up both manual freewheel levers for drive mode
(drive motor engaged). See figure 2.
You must turn off the power before disengaging the
drive motors; otherwise, you may get an error code on
the controller. To clear this code, turn off the controller
and place the power chair in drive mode. Then, turn on
the controller. The error message should be cleared. If it
is not, contact your Quantum Rehab Provider.
NOTE: The power chair will be significantly easier to
push with the power off.
Avoid applying excessive force to the manual freewheel
levers.
Do not use your foot to operate the manual freewheel
levers. Do not stand on the manual freewheel levers.
Applying excessive force to the manual freewheel levers
may result in damage to the freewheel levers, motors,
and brakes.
Do not use the freewheel lever handles as tie-down
points to secure this product.
Caster Sensor
Your power chair is equipped with two sensors (Caster Angle
Sensor Encoders) located above the caster fork stems.
These caster sensors help stabilize your power chair as it
turns in drive profiles that are capable of higher speeds. The
sensors also help with the tracking of your power chair as it
moves forward in a straight line and are most effective with
switch-type drive controls. See figure 1.
YOUR POWER CHAIR
In addition, the controller will display warning 72 if the power
chair loses traction. Warning 72 is a safety feature of the
caster sensors that ensures the power chair remains stable
even on slippery or loose terrain. When warning 72 appears,
the power chair’s speed will be reduced until the power
chair is brought to a complete stop. Once the power chair
is stopped and brakes click on, the power chair will return to
normal speed operations.
NOTE: For more information on the caster sensor
warning, refer to the basic operation instructions for
your controller.
NOTE: If the caster sensors on your power chair become
damaged and are no longer recognized by the system,
warning 72 will appear and the reduction in speed will
remain in effect even after a complete stop. If your power
chair remains in this state, contact your Quantum Rehab
Provider.
Fender Lights
Your power chair may be equipped with fender lights. The
lights are composed of three white LEDs in the front and
three red LEDs in the rear and are mounted on the fenders
of your power base. See figure 3.
NOTE: Prior to initial use, ensure that the fender light
switch is connected.
NOTE: If your power chair is equipped with an attendant
control, the fender lights will activate using the single
switch when the controller is turned on.
NOTE: If the single switch is used to turn off the lights,
the single switch must be used to turn the lights back
on before the lights will operate through the controller.
NOTE: Turn off fender lights when the power chair is not
in use to optimize power chair performance per charge.
To operate the fender lights using the single switch:
1. Press the single switch once to activate the fender lights.
2. Press the single switch again to deactivate the fender
lights.
