8.1 Smooth start-up
After switching on the machine, regulation elec-
tronic circuits provide for a smooth start-up up to
the operating speed without unnecessary kicks.
This decreases the wear of gears, and increases
machine lifetime.
8.2 Limitation of start-up current
The electronically controlled smooth start-up en-
sures that the machine starts up without a kick.
Due to limited start-up current of the machine, a
protection rating of 10 A is suf cient.
8.3 Overload protection
Is the tool overloaded, the oveload protection is
actuated, and the tool stops. When the load is
removed, the tool restarts automatically. Before
you continue in your work, you should let the tool
reach full speed.
8.4 Thermal overload protection
If you work with the tool for longer periods of
time under excessive load conditions, the motor is
switched off by the thermal protection that protects
the motor from overheating.
After having cooled down, i.e. after about 30 sec-
onds, the machine can be restarted again.
Causes of overheating: excessive pressure, de-
viation of tool from perpendicular position, bad
quality or excessive wear of disc.
9 Maintenance
- The unit should be stored in a dry place where
it is protected against freezing.
- The ventilation holes on the motor casing must
not get blocked up.
- The cable may only be replaced in a specialised
electrical workshop quali ed to perform such
work.
After approx. 200 hours of use the following main-
tenance work must be performed:
- Check the length of the brushes. Brushes shorter
than 5 mm should be replaced.
- The machine turns itself off automatically when
the brushes are worn out. The machine must be
sent to a service centre for maintenance.
WARNING
To preserve the protection class the machine
must undergo a safety inspection; this must
be done in a specialised electrical workshop
quali ed to perform such work.
- Service – see enclosed sheet.
10 Environmental Protection /
Disposal
Power tools, accessories and packaging should be
sorted for environmental-friendly recycling.
Only for EC countries:
Do not dispose of power tools into house-
hold waste!
According to the European Directive 2002/96/EC
on waste electrical and electronic equipment and
its incorporation into national law, power tools that
are no longer suitable for use must be separately
collected and sent for recovery in an environmen-
tal-friendly manner.

non-original PROTOOL accessories and consumable
material (e.g. sanding pads) is also excluded.
Complaints can only be recognised if the tool is
returned while still assembled to the supplier or an
authorised PROTOOL Customer Service workshop.
Keep the Operating Instructions, Safety Instruc-
tions, Spare Parts List and purchase receipt in a
safe place. Otherwise the respective, current war-
ranty condi tions of the manufacturer shall apply.
