4 Intended Use
The machine is intended for lengthways and
crossways cutting of wood with straight cut-
ting lines as well as mitre angles to 45°
while resting rmly on the work piece. With
suitable saw blades, non-ferrous metal,
light building materials and plastic can also
be sawed.
The user alone is responsible for any liabili-
ties caused by usage other than intended.
Persons under 16 are not permitted to use
the appliance.
5 Notes on Safety
Prevention
DANGER
5.1 General Safety Instructions
- Before using the machine, carefully read
all safety instructions and the Operating
Instructions.
- Keep all of the attached documents and
pass on the documentation if the ma-
chine changes ownership.
5.2 Safety Rules for Circular
Saws
a) Keep hands away from the cutting
area and the saw blade. Keep your
second hand on the auxiliary handle
or the motor housing. If both hands
are holding the circular saw, they can not
be cut by the saw blade.
b) Do not reach underneath the work.
The blade guard can not protect you from
the saw blade below the work.
c) Adjust the depth-of-cut to the thick-
ness of the work. It should not be vis-
ible below the work by more than the
height of a full tooth.
d) Never hold the workpiece being cut
in your hand or across your leg. Se-
cure the work on a rm support. It is
important to secure the work properly to
minimize the danger of body exposure,
blade binding or loss of control.
e) Hold the power tool only by the in-
sulated gripping surfaces when per-
forming an operation where the cut-
ting tool may run into hidden wiring
or its own cord. Contact with a “live”
wire will also make exposed metal parts
of the tool “live” and shock the operator.
f) Always use a ripping guide or straight
edge guide for length cuts. This im-
proves the precision of the cut and re-
duces the possibility of blade binding.
g) Always use saw blades with the cor-
rect size and the matching arbour
shape (diamond or round). Blades
that do not match the mounting hard-
ware of the saw will run eccentrically,
causing loss of control.
h) Never use damaged or incorrect blade
washers or screws. The blade washers
and screws were specially designed for
your saw for optimum performance and
safety of operation.
5.3 Additional Safety Rules
for all Circular Saws
Cause and operator prevention of kick-
back:
- Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched,
bound or misaligned saw blade, causing
an uncontrolled saw to lift up and out of
the workpiece toward the operator;
- When the blade is pinched or bound tight-
ly by the kerf closing down, the blade
stalls and the motor reaction drives the
unit rapidly back toward the operator;
