ABOUT THE CHARGER
On the last three pages you will find the technical specifications of the GBC 200.
The GBC 200 can be left connected to the mains power supply keeping the battery
in a good condition. The charger measures and checks the voltage level
continuously. This level will be adjusted automatically whenever necessary. This
built-in system prevents the battery becoming overcharged or entering a gaseous
state.
After connection to the battery, the battery charger will start in the main charging
condition (red LED) and remain there for a certain time. The length of time is
dependent on the battery voltage.
If you want to remove the charger from the battery, it’s important that the charging
process is always completely finished. As such, the connection between the charger
and the battery should only be broken when the green LED indicates ‘100%’. If the
charging process is interrupted before it is completed, the battery loses its charge
and its acid balance.
The GBC 200 is adjusted to charging voltages for the charging and maintenance of
starting batteries and gel batteries. Traction batteries on the other hand require a
higher charging voltage. When the charger has been specially modified for full-
traction or semi-traction this will be stipulated on the charger on a separate sticker
marked ‘vol-tractie’ or ‘semi-tractie’ respectively.
When you have a semi-traction battery that you are using as lighting battery
(therefore not cyclic application) this may be connected to a normal battery charger.
When your charger is costum made, the voltages mentioned above can diviate.
Important
Do not connect a charger with a semi- or full-traction setting to a start or gel
battery. This will impose a charging voltage on the battery that is too high.
When a charger with a normal setting is connected to a full-traction or a
Semi-traction battery that is used cyclically, the battery will not be charged
fully.
