WHERE CAN I USE VITRO-CHEF
Your Vitro-Chef is ready for indoors and outdoors use.
Check carefully that the voltage, power supply and specifications of the power supply plug and the ground outlet are the same.
When not in use, store Vitro-Chef indoors. Do not use the appliance in bathrooms, shower rooms or near swimming-pools or
ponds. You should always put the appliance on flat steady surfaces. Make sure there is ample free space around the appliance to
prevent damage from boiling oil or another liquid spillages.
Operating instructions and precautions
Vitro-chef is built to serve you for many years. But the following instructions and precaution measures should be respected:
You should always follow the cleaning instructions contained in this manual.
Remove sugar or melting plastics from the surface while it is still hot. If you allow it to cool down, the glass-ceramic surface will
be damaged. In order to do it, protect yourself from burns using gloves or any other protection.
This appliance is designed to cook food in direct contact with its surface and also to cook on it as if it were a fixed glass-ceramic
cooktop.
Do not place or drop heavy objects on the surface.
You can use spatulas made of a smooth metal or a heat resistant material, such as the ones you use on non-sticking pans.
Make sure your kitchen utensils, pots or metal trays are not damaged nor display a sharpen edge before placing them on the sur-
face.
Gravel or sand can scratch the surface.
To improve the product quality, the appliance can be subject to changes in manufacture or design without previous notice.
Operating instructions
The cooking and heating zone is marked by a box.
TO START THE APPLIANCE push the button and turn it clockwise. When Vitro-Chef is on, the orange control indicator is always
lit.
The positions we describe below are approximate.
Preheating times depend on recipes and types of food.
Never store the appliance before it has completely cool down.
Button positions 1 = keep warm
2 = low heat
3 = medium heat
4 = high heat
5 = cooking and roasting
Cleaning and care
A glass-ceramic plate is one of the toughest surfaces you have ever cooked on and it will last for a long time, provided it gets the
right treatment.
Never hit heavily hits or drop utensils on the surface.
You only need two things to keep the brand new look of your Vitro-Chef:
a glass scraper and a product for polishing glass ceramic surfaces. Both items can be bought in supermarkets.
It is very easy! If you have ever scraped paint off a glass, it is the same method for removing food soil from the cooking surface,
with only one difference -this is a much lighter task. After cooking, if there is any soil, scrape them off and leave it aside. Wipe
them off once they have cooled down using a sponge or kitchen paper. Remove sugar or melting plastics from the surface while
it is still hot. If you allow them to cool down, the glass-ceramic surface might get damaged. That is all. Now you can start pre-
paring your next dish.
After cooking, you should always unplug the appliance. Then, scrape the surface again while it is still hot. After cooling down,
wash the surface with a sponge and a soft detergent, dry it, apply some product for cleaning glass ceramic surfaces and rub it
with a paper towel. This will bring back the original Vitro-Chef shine.
For really heavy burned soil, scrape off as much as possible and rub with a sponge or a piece of paper towel. Plug in Vitro-Chef
and set it to the maximum heating level. Once the surface is hot, turn off and unplug the appliance from the wall outlet, and place
some wet paper towel on the surface, so that the water steam can soften food soil. Scrape and clean as before. We recommend
polishing the surface after each use.
For cleaning the stainless steel parts, pour some drops of some glass ceramic cleaning product into a wet sponge and rub.
