(1) Service more frequently when used in dusty areas.
(2) For commercial use, log hours of operation to determine proper maintenance intervals.
11.3 Engine oil replacement
Old oil, even in small quantities, must be brought to a suitable collection point for disposal. Old
oil may not be disposed of with household rubbish, waste water, or even to nature.
i. Place the, preferably warm machine on a level.
ii. Warm up the generator
iii. Turn the generator off
iv. Remove oil filler cap
You need a 10 mm socket and a recipient of sufficiant capacity to catch the oil (see oil tank
capacity) This recipient must fit below the oil drain bolt (if necessary raise the generator
horizontally on blocks or bricks)
▪ Position the recipient below the position of the oil drain bolt
▪ Remove the oil drain bolt. Drain the oil completely. (Fig. 9)
▪ Check the oil drain plug, gasket, oil filler cap and O-ring. If damaged replace.
▪ Reinstall the oil drain bolt.
▪ Refill engine oil to the upper level. (Fig. 10)
▪ Use always SAE 10W-30 4 stroke oil!
11.4 Air filter (Fig. 11)
A dirty air cleaner will restrict air flow to the carburetor. To prevent carburetor malfunction,
service the air cleaner regularly. Service more frequently when operating the generator in
extremely dusty areas.
▪ Unsnap the air cleaner cover clips, remove the air cleaner cover and remove the element.
▪ Wash the air filter in a solution of household detergent and warm water, then rinse
thoroughly or wash in non-flammable or high flashpoint solvent. Allow the air filter to dry
thoroughly.
▪ Soak the air filter in clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess oil. The engine will
smoke during initial startup if too much oil is left in the air cleaner element.
▪ Reinstall the air filter and the cover.
CAUTION: The engine should never run without the air filter element;
excessive piston and/or cylinder wear will result.
11.5 Cleaning / adjusting / replacing spark plug
Easy starting and optimum running of the engine is only possible when the spark plug is clean
and correctly mounted.
▪ Remove the spark plug cable from the spark plug.
▪ Place spark plug key on the spark plug and unscrew it.
