1. Turn over the seat as shown in the picture.
2. Unscrew the hand knob (G1) and simultaneously lift the red security
ring (G2). Open the jaw (G3) to an aperture wider than the luggage carrier.
3. Place the seat on the luggage carrier and then fasten the hand knob
(G1) so that the seat remains slightly attached to the luggage carrier.
Check if the jaw (G3) is properly fastened to the luggage carrier.
4. The child seat has a centre of gravity (F) (inscribed on the child seat) that
must be positioned in front of the rear wheel axle. If it is positioned behind
the axle, the distance must not exceed 10 cm. If the centre of gravity is
more than this distance from the axle, adjust the seat to the correct
position. Special care must also be taken when positioning the child seat
to ensure that the cyclist does not touch the child seat with his feet when
cycling. Make sure that the mounting plate (G) is firmly attached to the
carrier before proceeding. This step is extremely important for child and
cyclist safety. Check the safety of the fasteners regularly.
Note: In Germany, according to the German Traffic Law StVZO, bicycle
seats may only be fixed so that 2/3 of the seat depth or the Gravity Center
of the seat is located between the front and rear axle of the bicycle.
5. Fasten the hand knob (G1) so that the seat is well attached to the
luggage carrier. As soon as the hand knob is well tightened, make sure the
security lever is properly held as shown in the picture.
6. Pass the safety belt (C) around the bicycle frame. Adjust it as shown
in the picture, under tension. Make sure that remain loosen belt is not in
contact with the wheel. This step is extremely important for the child’s
safety.
7. The Guppy Junior seat must always be used with wheel protectors (D3).
They are strictly mandatory as it stops your child’s foot from coming into
contact with the wheel and prevent accidents. Place the protective film
for the fork (E5) to cover the location where the metal plate will be applied
(E1). Polisport provides this film for the protection of the fork and is not
responsible for any damage to the forks.
8. Fit metal attachment plate Ø[17-21]mm (E1) on the rear wheel’s right
hand fork. Repeat the same process for the left hand side.
9. Place the zip ties (D4) in the wheel protector (D3) as shown in the
picture. Is mandatory to install the 6 zip ties on each wheel protector.
10. Start to attach the zip ties (D4) to the bicycle fork. The zip tie located
on the bottom should be attached after the metal attachment plate (E1).
11. Attach the other 3 zip ties to the wheel bar by choosing the holes
that better fit to your bicycle wheel size. Follow the picture instructions
for the guidance.
12. Cut the remaining tape and leave at least 4mm as shown in the
picture. Make sure you have followed all the previous steps before you
go to the next instruction. Test your bicycle wheel to make sure your
wheel turn around with no issue. Repeat this process on both sides of the
bicycle. Make sure you have both wheel protectors installed as described
in the instruction. You’re now ready to go to the next step to install the
retractable footrest.
13. Please do not proceed with this step before you follow the previous
steps to install the wheel protector. This is important for you and your child
security. Fit the fastening block (E2) to the metal attachment plate (E1)
After putting this component in place, ensure that its attachment pins
fit properly into the metal attachment plate (E1), as shown on the above
image. Repeat the same process for the left hand side. Polisport does not
accept liability for any damage caused to the fork if this part is tightened
incorrectly.
14. Fit the retractable footrest (D2) onto the plate and block assembly
(E2+E1) installed previously to the rear wheel’s right hand fork. Repeat the
same process for the left hand side.
15. After fitting the retractable footrest (D2), insert the M6 bolt into the
top slot and tighten the footrest (D2) onto the block installed on the rear
wheel’s right hand fork in the previous steps. After inserting the 2 bolts,
use the no. 4 Allen key (E4), to tighten them (6N.m) to ensure that they
do not come loose with daily use. Repeat the same process for the left
hand side.
