Listening to MP3/WMA
These are the basic steps necessary to play an
MP3/WMA with your built-in DVD player. More
advanced MP3/WMA operation is explained
starting on the next page.
1 To select a desired disc press one of the
16 buttons on the DVD player.
Playback starts.
# The indicator of selectable disc holders light
in blue. If a disc is not inserted, you cannot select
that disc holder.
# Each of the disc holders has corresponding
indicator. About the indicator status, refer to
Loading a disc on page 15.
# You can also select a disc by pressing a or b
(DISC).
# This unit does not automatically change discs
even if it reaches to the end of the currently play-
ing disc. To change discs, press one of the 16
buttons on the DVD player or a/b (DISC).
2 To select a folder press a or b
(FOLDER).
# To return to folder 001 (ROOT), press and hold
MEDIA. However, if folder 001 (ROOT) contains
no files, playback commences with folder 002.
# You cannot select a folder that does not have
an MP3/WMA file recorded in it.
3 To skip back or forward to another
track, press o or p.
Pressing p skips to the start of the next
track. Pressing o once skips to the start of
the current track. Pressing it again will skip to
the previous track.
4 To perform fast forward or reverse,
press and hold m or n.
If you continue pressing m or n, the icon
m/n is displayed. To resume playback at a
desired point, release m/n.
# There is no sound on fast forward or reverse.
Notes
! When playing discs with MP3/WMA files and
audio data (CD-DA) such as CD-EXTRA and
MIXED-MODE CDs, both types can be played
only by switching mode between MP3/WMA
and CD-DA by pressing MEDIA. This function
can be operated only when the disc is playing.
! If you have switched between playback of
MP3/WMA files and audio data (CD-DA), play-
back starts at the first track on the disc.
! This DVD player can play back an MP3/WMA
file recorded on CD-ROM. (Refer to page 49
for files that can be played back.)
! There is sometimes a delay between starting
up disc playback and the sound being issued.
When being read, DISC DATA READING is
displayed.
! Playback is carried out in order of file number.
Folders are skipped if they contain no files. (If
folder 001 (ROOT) contains no files, playback
commences with folder 002.)
! This unit does not play back WMA files re-
corded as VBR (variable bit rate).
! If the inserted disc contains no files that can
be played back, NON-PLAYABLE DISC is dis-
played.
! If the inserted disc contains WMA files that
are protected by digital rights management
(DRM) , TRACK SKIPPED is displayed while
the protected file is skipped.
! If all the files on the inserted disc are secured
by DRM, PROTECTED CD is displayed.
! When a disc contains both WMA files which
are protected by DRM and audio data (CD-
DA), both types cannot be switched. In this
case, only audio data will be played back.
