Anti-aliasing: Een methode waarbij de hoekige randen van bitmap-
afbeeldingen worden bijgewerkt. Dit wordt meestal bereikt door het
bijwerken van de randen met pixels van dezelfde kleur tussen de
rand en de achtergrond, waardoor de overgang minder duidelijk is.
Bij een andere methode voor anti-aliasing wordt weergaveapparatuur
met een hogere resolutie gebruikt.
H/B-verhouding: Dit is de verhouding tussen de breedte en de
hoogte in een afbeelding. Wanneer de hoogte-/breedteverhouding
wordt gefixeerd, zal bij een wijziging van de ene waarde ook
automatisch de andere worden aangepast.
AVI: Afkorting van Audio Video Interleaved, een formaat voor
digitale video (en Video voor Windows).
Batchopname: Een geautomatiseerd proces waarbij een Edit
Decision List wordt gebruikt om bepaalde clips op een videoband te
lokaliseren en opnieuw op te nemen. Doorgaans worden de
betreffende clips daarbij opgenomen met een hogere
gegevenssnelheid dan die van de oorspronkelijke opname.
BIOS: Acroniem for Basic Input Output System, hetgeen verwijst
naar basisinvoer- en uitvoeropdrachten die zijn opgeslagen in een
ROM, PROM of EPROM. De belangrijkste taak van de BIOS
is om de in- en uitvoer aan te sturen. Na de systeemstart voert de
ROM-BIOS enkele tests uit. Parallelle interface, IRQ, I/O
Bit: Afkorting van 'BInary DigiT', de kleinste informatie-eenheid op
een computer. Bits worden o.a. gebruikt voor het opslaan van
kleurwaarden en pixels in een afbeelding. Hoe meer bits voor elke
pixel worden gebruikt, hoe groter het aantal beschikbare
kleuren. Bijvoorbeeld:
1-bit: elke pixel is of zwart of wit.
4-bit: 16 kleuren of grijstinten mogelijk.
8-bit: 256 kleuren of grijstinten mogelijk.
16-bit: 65.536 kleuren mogelijk.
24-bit: ongeveer 16,7 miljoen kleuren mogelijk.
Bitmap: Een beeld bestaat uit een verzameling beeldpunten of
