2 Fill the water tank with water up to the maximum level. With a full water tank, the steamer
can steam for approximately 1 hour (Fig. 2).
Only ll the water tank with water. Never put seasoning, oil, or other substances in the water
tank.
3 Place the drip tray on the water tank in the base (Fig. 3).
Never use the appliance without the drip tray.
4 If desired, put dried or fresh herbs or spices on the avour booster to add extra avour to
the food to be steamed (Fig. 4).
Thyme, coriander, basil, dill, curry and tarragon are some of the exciting herbs and spices that you
can put on the avour booster. You can combine them with garlic, caraway or horseradish to
enhance avour without adding salt. We advise you to use 1/2 to 3tsp of dried herbs or spices. Use
more if you use fresh herbs or spices.
For suggested herbs or spices for various types of food, see the food steaming table in chapter ‘Food
table and steaming tips’.
Tip: If you use ground herbs or spices, rinse the drip tray to wet the avour booster. This prevents ground
herbs or spices from falling through the openings of the avour booster (Fig. 5).
5 Put the food to be steamed in one or more steaming bowls and/or in the XL steaming bowl
(see section ‘XL steaming bowl’ below).
Tip: Put eggs on the egg holders to steam eggs conveniently (Fig. 6).
6 Place larger pieces of food and food that require a longer steaming time in the bottom
steaming bowl.
7 Arrange the food with ample space between the pieces to allow maximum steam ow. Do
not put too much food in the steaming bowls.
8 Put one or more steaming bowls on the drip tray. (Fig. 7)
Note: Make sure you place the bowls properly and that they do not wobble.
- You do not have to use all 3 steaming bowls.
- The steaming bowls are numbered. You nd the number on their handles. The top steaming
bowl is no. 3, The middle steaming bowl is no. 2 and the bottom steaming bowl is no. 1.
- Only stack the steaming bowls in the following order: steaming bowl 1, steaming bowl 2,
steaming bowl 3.
- If you use steaming bowls 2 and 3 with their removable bottoms, always make sure the rim of
the bottom points upwards and that the bottom locks into place (‘click’) (Fig. 8).
- If you have removed the bottom of steaming bowl 2 only, you can still place steaming bowl 3 on
top.
- If you want to steam large foods (e.g. corn cobs or yams), you can remove the bottoms from
steaming bowls 2 and/or 3 to maximise the steaming space (Fig. 9).
9 Put the lid on the top steaming bowl (Fig. 10).
Note: If the lid is not placed on the steaming bowl properly or at all, the food is not steamed properly.
XL steaming bowl
The XL steaming bowl is intended for soup, stew, porridge and rice, and other food that is not
suitable for steaming in the other bowls.
1 You can use the XL steaming bowl in the following combinations:
- Bowls 1 and 2 or bowls 2 and 3 (Fig. 11).
- Bowls 1, 2 and 3 (Fig. 12).
