LCD (Liquid Crystal Display - Flüssigkristallanzeige)

Ein Display, das aus einer zwischen zwei transparenten Scheiben angeordneten Schicht eines Flüssigkristallmaterials

zusammengesetzt ist. Dieses Display besteht aus Tausenden Pixeln, die elektrisch gesteuert ein- oder ausgeschaltet

werden können. Dadurch können farbige Bilder oder Texte generiert werden.

Flüssigkristall

Das Material, das in Flüssigkristalldisplays verwendet wird. Das Flüssigkristallmaterial reagiert auf eine genau

prognostizierbare Weise auf elektrische Ansteuerung. Dadurch ist dieses Material ideal dazu geeignet, die LCD-Bildpunkte

"ein-" oder "aus-"zuschalten. Oft sieht man auch die englischen Abkürzungen LCD, Liquid Crystal Display =

Flüssigkristallanzeige oder LC = Liquid Crystal = Flüssigkristall.

Leuchtstärke - Luminanz

Ein Maß der Leuchtstärke bzw. Helligkeit von Licht, üblicherweise ausgedrückt in der Einheit Candela pro Quadratmeter

(cd/m2) oder Foot-Lambert. 1 Ft.-L.=3,426 cd/m2.
