POWER SUPPLY
AC operation
Before plugging the AC power cord into the AC socket, be sure the voltage is correct.
If you have batteries in the radio and using the AC power supply, the batteries will
automatically be disconnect.
AC power cord storage is designed to store the cord when the radio is not in use.
Note:
In order to disconnect the unit from the mains completely, the AC plug should be
removed from the mains socket completely.
In case of malfunction due to electrostatic discharge, remove and reconnect the power
supply.
Battery operation
1. Toopenthebatterycompartment,rstturnthebatterycoverxturesanti-clockwise
to loosen and pull down the battery cover.
2. Insert4xDsize(UM-1)batterywiththecorrectpolarityintothecompartment.Close
thebatterycoverandfastenthexturesbyturningclockwise.Closewelltoprevent
moist or dust from entering the compartment.
3. If the unit is not to be used for any extended period of time, it is recommended that
the batteries are removed from the radio.
The approximate power level of the batteries is displayed in the LCD display of the radio.
When the power level is very low the indication “Battery Low!” appears and the battery
symbolashesonthedisplay.Thebatteriesshouldthenbereplacedsoontocontinue
normal operation of the radio.
Back up battery (2 x AA size compartment located underneath the larger
battery compartment)
Back up battery is to back up the preset stations and the clock.
Itisnecessarytoinsertbackupbattery(2xAAsize/UM-3)formemorybackup
even if you use AC power supply only. Without the back up battery, time and preset
stations will get lost if you remove the AC power cord from AC socket or during
power failure.
Notes:
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or
equivalent type.
Donotexposethebatteriestoexcessiveheatsuchassunshine,reorthelike.
Batteries should not be disposed of by incineration and with household waste.
Disposable batteries should be taken to a suitable recycling centre if possible.
USING THE RADIO FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Placetheradioonaatsurface.
2. Carefully extend the antenna located on the top of the radio. Adjust the antenna so
it is vertically extending above the radio.
3. Plugging the AC power cord into the AC socket. The radio will start up and the
display will show “TUNER” for a few seconds. Then the radio will automatically
perform an auto scan of the FM waveband.
4. When the scan is completed, the 10 strongest FM stations will be stored as presets.
The radio will switch to standby; the display will show “GOOD BYE” for a few
seconds.
TUNER MODE
Seeking station
1. Press the On/Off button to turn on the radio.
2. Ifthisisthersttimetoswitchon,theradiowillbeinTunermodeandthestationin
preset 1 will be played.
If the radio has been used before, the last listened station will be played.
3. To seek station, press the Tuning knob.Thescanstopsautomaticallywhenitnds
astationofsufcientstrength.
4. After a few seconds, the display will update and show station name if RDS
information is being received.
5. Tondotherstations,presstheTuning knob again.
6. To seek station in an opposite direction, rotate the Tuning knob clockwise (to
scanfromlowfrequencytohighfrequency)orrotateanti-clockwise(toscanfrom
highfrequencytolowfrequency),andpresstheTuning knob.
7. When the waveband end is reached, the radio will recommence tuning from the
opposite waveband end.
Manual tuning
1. Press the On/Off button to turn on the radio.
2. Press the FM button to switch to Tuner mode.
3. Rotate the Tuning knob to reach the required FM frequency.
The radio will change the frequency in steps of 50 kHz.
4. Rotate the rubber antenna to get the best reception. If the radio is tuned to a station
ofsufcientsignalstrengthwithRDSinformationpresent,thedisplaymaychange
to show the station name.
5. When the waveband end is reached, the radio will recommence tuning from the
opposite waveband end.
