Selecting fine audio equipment such as the unit you’v e just purchased is only the start of your musical enjo ymen t. No w it’ s time t o
consider how you can maxim ize the fun and excitement your equipment off ers. This manuf actu rer and the Electronic Industries Assoc iation’ s
Consumer Electronics Group want you to get the most out of your equipment by pla y ing it at a safe le vel. One that lets the sound c ome through
loud and clear with out annoying b laring or d istor tion—and, most impor tantly , wit hout affecting y our sensitive hearing.
We recommend that you av oid prolonged exposure to e xcess ive noise .
Sound ca n be deceiving. Over time your hear ing “comfort lev el” adapts to higher v olumes of sound. So what sounds “normal” can actua lly be
loud and har mful to your hear ing.
Guard against t his by setting your equipment at a safe lev el BE FORE your hearing adapts.
T o establish a saf e lev el:
≥Star t your volume control at a low setting.
≥Slowly increase the sound until y ou can hear it comf or t ably and clearly , and without distortion.
Once you have estab lished a co mfortable sound lev el:
≥Set the dial and leav e it there.
T aking a minute to do t his now will hel p to pre vent hearing damage or loss in the future. After all, w e want y ou listening f or a lifet ime.
