• Frozen vegetables should not be defrosted.
They should always be cooked from frozen.
Thatʼs why this book does not contain
defrosting times for frozen vegetables.
• Frozen vegetables should not be cooked in
their packaging. They must be transferred to
a container which is microwave safe.
• When you cook a mixture of frozen
vegetables, some vegetables may be less
cooked than others; this is due to the
different characteristics of these vegetables.
• Most frozen mashed potato and vegetable
puree on the market (sold in small blocks) is
already cooked; reheat it for 8 to 9 min at
1000W stirring half-way through cooking
(for 500g).
• You will only notice the speed of cooking
when cooking small quantities (less than
1kg). For large quantities the cooking times
get much longer, it is better to cook several
smaller batches.
• It is ESSENTIAL to stir the vegetables at
least once during cooking. When using the
Automatic programme, a beep will sound
during cooking to remind you.
• To make vegetable puree, add a few minutes
to the cooking time so your vegetables will
be very well cooked and easy to puree.
• Cooking some vegetables in the microwave,
depending on how fresh they are, does not
give very satisfactory results. You may prefer
to cook these using traditional cooking
methods (peas, whole carrots, broad beans,
beans, mixed vegetables).
• When cooked using microwaves, brown
marks appear on vegetables which are rich
in iron such as cabbage, cauliflower or
broccoli. This is harmless.
Advice for cooking vegetables
