6. Close the print head
compartment cover and lower
the operator console.
5. Push the print head in the
direction indicated by the arrow
until it clicks into place.
4. Insert the print head in its
compartment with the contacts
towards the front of the machine.
If the new print head is of the disposable type, the display shows the message:
NEW PRINT HEAD?
1=YES 0=NO
Confirm by pressing
1.
At this point, the facsimile machine performs the "Automatic Nozzle Cleaning and Testing
Procedure" (described below) and prints the result on the previously inserted sheet of paper.
AUTOMATIC NOZZLE CLEANING AND TESTING PROCEDURE
Having replaced the print head or ink cartridge, the facsimile machine automatically activates the
nozzle cleaning procedure. It then checks that they are working properly and prints the result on
the sheet inserted automatically after the out of ink message was displayed. The print test contains
a numbered scale and a set of graphics and text to enable the operator to assess the print quality
immediately.
At the end of the procedure, the display shows the message:
CHECK PRINTING QUALITY
1=EXIT 0=REPEAT
Check that there are
no gaps
in the numbered scale
and that there are
no horizontal white lines
in the black areas. If these conditions are respected, this means that the print head has been
correctly inserted and is in perfect working order, therefore press 1: the facsimile machine returns
to standby and is ready for use.
If there are
gaps or white lines
, but the print quality is considered sufficient, press 1, otherwise
press 0 to repeat the nozzle cleaning procedure: if the result of the subsequent test continues to
be unsatisfactory, repeat the procedure for the third and last time.
If the print quality is still unsatisfactory after three cleaning cycles, press 1 and carry out the
"Manual Nozzle Testing Procedure" described in the Routine Maintenance section. If this does not
work either, the print head is probably faulty. Replace it with a new one.
