How Do I... Here’s How
Update the Zero Runner console firmware to ensure
that I have the most up-to-date capabilities?
Use Bluetooth to connect your complatible device
running the SMARTLink app to the Zero Runner
console. For a complete list of compatible devices,
connect to https://www.octanefitness.com/home/
smartlink/. Press Quick Start as if you were going
to begin a workout. A message will display on your
device if your console requires an update; follow the
prompts to complete the update.
This may take several minutes. If your device has less
than 25% battery charge you should connect it to a
power source for the duration of the update.
Connect the Zero Runner console to my Garmin
“Connect IQ-compatible” watch to capture my entire
indoor/outdoor workout?
Be sure that your Zero Runner console is up-to-date
with the latest firmware (as described above).
Then, load SmartLINK onto your watch here:
https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/
Next, on your watch, navigate to the
Settings->Sensors menu and select Add Foot
Pod. Pedal the Zero Runner to allow your watch to
recognize it as a footpod. (You only need to do this the
first time you use your watch and your Zero Runner
together.)
Finally, on your watch, navigate to the Connect IQ
menu, select Zero Runner and follow these steps:
1. Choose the first part of your workout on the
Select Mode screen (New session outside or
New session on Zero)
2. Wait for your watch to acquire GPS fix (outside)
or find the Zero Runner (inside; must press Zero
Runner power button to turn it on).
3. To begin your workout, press Start/Stop (or
Enter) on your watch and start running.
4. After completing the first part of your workout
(outside or on the Zero Runner), press Start/
Stop (or Enter) on your watch to pause your
workout.
5. Select Switch (to outside or Zero Runner).
You will need to wait for the watch to acquire
GPS or find the powered-on Zero Runner before
resuming your workout.
6. At the end of your workout, Press Start/Stop
(or Enter) on your watch and select End and
Save or End and Discard.
Refer to the “SmartLINK for Garmin Connect IQ
User Guide” in your SmartLINK app for additional
information about using SmartLINK on your Garmin.
