Cuando ascienda desde las profundidades tras una inmersión en la
que haya alcanzado el límite sin paradas, los segmentos del TLBG
irán desapareciendo (Fig. 60a) a medida que el control pase a
compartimentos más lentos. Esta función del modelo de descompresión
es la base de las inmersiones multinivel y constituye una de las ventajas
más importantes ofrecidas por los ordenadores de buceo Oceanic.
El algoritmo de DataMask se basa en la teoría de Haldane, que
utiliza los niveles máximos de nitrógeno permitidos desarrollados
por Merrill Spencer. El control de inmersiones sucesivas se basa en
experimentos diseñados y conducidos por los doctores Ray Rogers y
Michael Powell en 1987. Estos experimentos fueron encargados por
Diving Science and Technology
®
(DSAT), una filial comercial de PADI
®
.
Tiempo restante de acumulación de oxígeno (OTR)
Si configura DataMask para trabajar con Nitrox, la acumulación
de oxígeno (saturación o exposición) durante una inmersión, o
el período de 24 horas, aparecerán como un gráfico de barras
de O2 (O2BG) (Fig. 61a). A medida que vaya disminuyendo el
tiempo restante para alcanzar el límite de exposición al oxígeno,
se irán añadiendo segmentos al gráfico de barras de O2.
Cuando la cantidad de tiempo restante para alcanzar el límite
de oxígeno (OTR) sea inferior al tiempo restante de inmersión sin
parada (NDC), los cálculos para esa profundidad pasarán a estar
controlados por el oxígeno.
