De boot vaart van de start naar de bestemming en heeft zich van het begin tot de bestemming van de
geplotte koers begeven.
BRG Peiling tot bestemming: Peiling tot de bestemming van de boot.
BRG Peiling tot cursor: Peiling tot cursor van boot (cursorstand, zie paragraaf 3-2)
CDI Koersafwijkingsindicator: Wanneer de boot naar een punt navigeert, dan geven de landkaart- en
snelwegschermen een parallelle lijn aan beide kanten van de geplotte koers weer. Deze twee
lijnen worden de koersafwijkingslijnen (CDI)-lijnen genoemd. De afstand van de geplotte koers
naar een CDI-lijn heet de CDI-schaal.
Stel de CDI-schaal in (zie paragraaf 14-2) op de maximale afstand die de boot mag afwijken van
de geplotte koers. De landkaart- en snelwegschermen geven de CDI-lijnen weer; deze zijn als een
snelweg over het water, waarover de boot zich begeeft. Het beeldscherm geeft weer hoe ver de
boot is afgeweken van de geplotte koers en of de boot een CDI-lijn nadert. Indien het XTE-alarm is
ingeschakeld (zie paragraaf 14-7), dan zal een alarm klinken indien de boot een CDI-lijn bereikt.
COG Koers Over Grond: Richting waarin boot zich beweegt over de grond.
CTS Te sturen koers: Optimale te sturen koers om op de geplotte koers terug te keren.
DTG Af te leggen afstand: Afstand van de boot tot aan de bestemming.
ETA Verwachte aankomsttijd: Op de bestemming, ervan uitgaande dat SOG en COG constant bli-
jven.
RNG Bereik tot cursor: Afstand van boot tot cursor (cursorstand, zie paragraaf 3-2)
SOG Snelheid Over Grond: Huidige bootsnelheid over de grond. Dit is niet noodzakelijkerwijs hetzelfde
als de bootsnelheid door het water, noch als de snelheid waarmee de bestemming genaderd
wordt.
STR Steering: Het verschil tussen de COG en CTS.
TTG Tijd Te Gaan: De geschatte tijd nodig om de bestemming te bereiken.
XTE Cross Track Error: De afstand van de boot tot het dichtst bijzijnde punt op de geplotte koers.
XTE kan voorzien zijn van een letter: R betekent naar rechts terug sturen naar de geplotte koers,
L betekent naar links sturen.
VMG Velocity Made Good: De snelheid waarmee de boot de bestemming nadert.
