Using your appliance for
the first time
- Before using the kettle for the first time,
rinse out the interior of your kettle and boil
water once or twice and dispose of the
contents.
- Place the base of your kettle on a stable
surface and plug it in. Use the minimum
cable required to plug in the appliance,
preventing any trailing cable, which can be a
hazard.
- Remove the kettle from its base and fill it via
the pouring spout (E) or via the lid, opened by
pressing on the release control (D).
- Observe the Maximum (1.7 litre) and
Minimum (0.3 litre) markings, which you
will find on the water levels (H)
- Check that the lid is properly locked (C) by
pressing on the top, in order to avoid any
spillage, escaping steam or incorrect
operation.
- Place the kettle on its base (I).
- Turn it on by setting the switch (A) to «I»,
and the indicator light (B) will come on.
. Important:
- The appliance stops automatically as soon
as the water has boiled, the switch (A) returns
to position «0» and the indicator light (B)
goes out.
- You can also stop the kettle at any time
during the heating cycle by setting the switch
(A) to position «0».
- The appliance is protected by a safety device,
which regulates the heating cycle. If the
kettle is switched on with too little water or no
water at all the safety device will operate.
Limescale filter (depending on
model)
Depending on the hardness of the water in
your area, a layer of scale may form inside
your kettle. This happens, when water boils,
particles of lime scale may be found in the
water you pour out. To prevent this, we have
fitted the kettle with a special limescale filter
which, when you pour water, retains the
particles of scale.
- Avoid pouring water too rapidly, so as to
allow it to run slowly through the limescale
filter.
- To remove the limescale filter, remove the
kettle from its base and allow the appliance
to cool down. Never remove the filter when
the appliance is full of hot water. Press on
the lid release (D) to open the lid.
- Then simply pull the filter upward, pulling it
out of the spout.
- When replacing the limescale filter, make
sure it is correctly inserted and lock it by
pushing downwards.
Please note:
- The filter is suitable only for Lirys kettles.
- The absence of the filter does not stop the
kettle from working.
Cleaning
- Before cleaning the kettle, unplug it or remove
it from its base.
- Rinse the kettle in cold water to cool it down.
- To clean the external surfaces, use a damp
cloth and a non-abrasive detergent. Rinse
and dry carefully.
- Never immerse the kettle or the base in
water.
. Model with limescale filter
- Clean limescale filter regularly.
- Rinse it under running water, if necessary
using a soft non-metallic brush.
Maintenance
. Descaling
For water to reach boiling point, it is vital to
descale your kettle at regular intervals. To do
this, we recommend that you use wine vinegar.
. Pour 1/2 litre water into the kettle.
. Add 1/2 glass 8° vinegar.
. Bring to the boil and leave to take effect for
15 minutes.
. Then rinse your kettle several times with cold
water.
. Boil fresh water and dispose before reusing
the kettle.
. Model with limescale filter
This same mixture (water + vinegar) can also
be used to descale the limescale filter.
- Pour a little of the hot mixture into a
container.
- Soak the filter in the mixture for several
minutes, until the particles of scale lodged
in the pores of the filter have dissolved.
- Then rinse the filter copiously in clear water.
Note:
- Limescale is not hazardous, however it does
hamper the kettle’s performance.
