Instruction for Barometer
Barometer indicating with display of Bar Graph may only
be effected if the measuring instrument is at constant
height level for a longer time interval. The WINDWATCH
PRO II is recording the pressure values within the selected
time interval per bar and illustrates these as a graph. Unlike
most table top Barometers the WINDWATCH PRO II displays
the Barometer graph with equal time intervals. This detail
provides the possibility to follow the trend of a front much
more precisely.
In meteorology the present pressure is always specified in
relation to sea level. This indication is called QNH likewise
to flying activities and is measured in hPa. The average
pressure during one year over medium latitude is 1013.25
hPa and has been determined bindingly by the ICAO for the
flying sector in 1928. If one is located at a different height
than sea level, the measuring instrument must know this
height value, in order to calculate the QNH in relation to
sea level.
This height value is adjusted in the display Set-Mode
Barometer. In case this height is left at zero, the present
air pressure displayed is that at real height where one is
actually located. This air pressure is called QFE.
