5 Electrical Equipment
- Have a damaged power cable replaced by a qualified
electrician immediately. Risk of electric shock if
operated with a damaged power cable.
- Persons under 16 years of age should not operate this
machine.
- This band saw is equipped with an electronic motor
brake.
A light humming sound emitted from the switch for a
short period after connection to power is normal and
does not indicate a fault.
If the brake fails have the fine-wire fuse inside the switch
checked.
The max. number of 20 switching operations per hour
should not be exceeded.
The electrical connection should be designed in such
way that a dust collector, connected to the band saw,
does start at the same time the band saw is switched on
(e.g. induction coil in the supply line).
Connection to Power Mains
Single-phase (model BAS 600 WNB)
Connection to power mains by a plug type Schuko or
local equivalent. The outlet the plug is connected to must
be installed according to DIN/VDE 100 or equivalent,
must be earthed and should be protected by a residual
current device (RCD) of 30 mA capacity. The power
supply required is 230 V 50 Hz. The supply circuit should
be protected by a 16A time-lag fuse or miniature circuit
breaker, its conductor cross section should be at least
3 x 1.5 mm

.
Three-phase (model BAS 600 DNB)
Connection to power mains by a CEE 16A industrial type
plug or local equivalent. The outlet the plug is connected
to must be installed according to DIN/VDE 100 or
equivalent on a 5-wire supply circuit (L1, L2, L3,N, PE)
and should be protected by a residual current device
(RCD) of 30 mA capacity. The power supply required is
3 x 400V 50Hz. The supply circuit should be protected by
3 x 16A time-lag fuses or miniature circuit breakers, the
minimum required conductor cross section is
5 x 1.5 mm

.
Change of Direction of Rotation (model BAS
600 DNB)
On machines with 3-phase motors the direction of rotation
needs to be checked after connection to power mains by
briefly starting the machine. If required, change direction
of rotation by turning the slotted knob inside the CEE
plug with a flat blade screwdriver.

6 Dust Collection
If this band saw is operated indoors for more than 30
minutes, it is required to be connected to a dust collection
device (the dust of oak and beech is classified as
carcinogenic).
A dust collector, to be connected to this band saw, must
be capable of producing an air speed rate of 20 m/sec at
the saw's suction port. The band saw's suction port has
an outer diameter of 100 mm.
Dust collector automatic start
The electrical connection of the band saw must ensure
that a dust collector, connected to the band saw, does
start automatically when the band saw is switched on,
and provide for 20 second post-running after the band
saw is switched off.
7 Optional Accessories
It is possible to fit this band saw with a number of
accessories for specific applications. For product liability
reasons it is pointed out that the band saw itself as well
as all accessories offered should only be used for the
applications specified. Any other application requires
the consent of Elektra Beckum in writing. Please do not
hesiate to contact Elektra Beckum or our local
representative for further technical information.
