6. Are the tires in good condition and do they have

sufﬁcient pressure? Keep in mind that a pedelec

weighs more and that your usual tire pressure may

be insufﬁcient. A higher pressure gives a better rid-

ing stability and reduces the risk of a puncture. The

minimum and maximum pressure (in bar or psi) is

indicated on the tire side.

7. Spin the wheels to check whether the rims are true.

In the case of wheels with disc brakes watch the

gap between frame and rim or tire. Untrue rims can

be an indication of tires with ruptured sides or bro-

ken axles or spokes.

8. Test the brakes at standstill by ﬁrmly pulling the

brake levers towards the handlebars

In the case of disc brakes the pressure point must

be stable at once. If you have to actuate the brake

lever more than once to get a positive braking re-

sponse have the MERIDA pedelec checked by your

MERIDA dealer immediately.

9. Let your MERIDA pedelec bounce on the ground

from a small height. If there is any rattling, ﬁnd out

where it comes from. Check the bearings, the bolts

and the proper seat of the battery, if necessary.

10. If you want to ride on public roads, make sure your

MERIDA pedelec is equipped according to the

applicable regulations of your country

without lights and reﬂectors

in dark or dim con-

ditions is very dangerous because you will be seen

too late or not at all by other road users.

Make sure that the lighting system used

complies with the road trafﬁc regulations of

the respective country where you are riding.
