Adjusting rear seats mechanically
&
WARNING Risk of becoming trapped
when adjusting the seats
When you adjust a seat, you may trap your‐
self or a vehicle occupant.
#
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat.
&
WARNING Risk of accident if seat and
seat backrest are not engaged
If the seat and seat backrest are not engaged
they could fold forwards, e.g. when braking
or in the event of an accident.
This poses the following risks in particular:
R
A seat or seat backrest that is not
engaged can push the vehicle occupant
against the seat belt. The seat belt would
then not be able to provide the intended
protection and could cause additional
injury.
R
A child restraint system would no longer
be supported correctly or positioned cor‐
rectly and would no longer perform its
intended function.
R
The seat backrest cannot restrain objects
or goods in the cargo compartment.
Always ensure that the seat and seat back‐
rest are engaged, especially:
R
before passengers travel on a seat with
the easy entry and exit feature.
R
after adjusting the seat.
R
after the easy entry and exit feature is
used.
R
after the cargo compartment enlarge‐
ment has been folded down.
&
WARNING Risk of injury when adjusting
the rear seats while driving
If you adjust the rear seats carelessly while
driving, you or other vehicle occupants could
be trapped and potentially injured.

NOTE Damage caused by objects in the
footwell or behind the rear seats

rear seats and/or the object can be dam‐
aged.
#
Stow objects in a suitable place.
This function is available only for vehicles with a
movable rear bench seat.
The components of the passenger bench seat
can be moved. You can move the right-hand and
left-hand part together with the center part inde‐
pendently of each other. This allows you to make
the footwell larger in either the second or third
row of seats.
