Electrostatic discharge The rapid, spontaneous transfer of electrostatic charge
induced by a high electrostatic eld. The charge usually
ows through a spark, known as static discharge,
between two objects at dierent electrostatic levels as
they approach each other (for example, when people
touch each other after dragging their feet on a carpet).

HbA1c Glycosylated hemoglobin.
HDL High-density lipoprotein A complex of lipids and proteins
in approximately equal amounts that functions as a
transporter of cholesterol in the blood.
