Radiomodus: Radio Data System
Het Radio Data System is een service van de radio-omroepen. Naast de
gebruikelijke muzikale en gesproken bijdragen wordt extra informatie
uitgezonden in de vorm van gecodeerde digitale signalen die door de
autoradio kunnen worden weergegeven. Deze informatie – zoals de naam
van de zender of het nummer van de afgespeelde muziek – worden op het
display weergegeven.
Als de zender geen RDS-signalen uitzendt, wordt in plaats van de naam van
de zender de frequentie aangegeven.
Als de zender die RDS-signalen
uitzendt ook verkeersinformatie
biedt, wordt op het display de
aanduiding „TP“ („Traffic Program“
= verkeersprogramma)
weergegeven.
Alternatieve frequenties (toets AF)
Een functie van RDS is de AF-functie op de FM-band ("AF" = "Alternatieve
frequenties"). In de RDS-modus wordt bij het verlaten van de bereik van een
zender automatisch overgeschakeld naar een andere frequentie. Het
overschakelen werkt alleen goed als ook de PI-code klopt (de PI-code is een
programma-id waarmee programma's en zenders uniek worden
geïdentificeerd). Zo wordt voorkomen dat de radio naar een frequentie
overschakelt die op dat moment wordt ingenomen door een ander
programma.
` Druk kort op de toets AF om de
AF-functie voor de RDS-modus in
of uit te schakelen. Op het display
wordt de aanduiding "AF"
weergegeven als deze functie is
ingeschakeld.
Als geen RDS-informatie beschikbaar is knippert de aanduiding AF op
het display.
