8.3. Smoke Detector
You can mount the smoke detector on either the ceiling or on the wall near to the
ceiling.
Ensure that the smoke detector is located within the reception range of the
Smart Home central unit. If the reception from the smoke detector is not suffi-
cient, change the position of the Smart Home central unit or, if required, add a
second central unit to increase the range of the Smart Home network.
ATTENTION!
Risk of false alarms.
Unfavourable environmental conditions can trigger a
false alarm.
Therefore, do not mount the smoke detector:
−in rooms with large amounts of water vapour, humidity,
dust or smoke (e.g. kitchens, laundry rooms, bathrooms).
−near to hearths or open fireplaces.
−next to ventilation shafts because the air flow could divert
smoke form the smoke detector.
−near to electrical interference (e.g. electricity meters, metal
cupboards, metal walls).
−near to fluorescent lamps and energy-saving bulbs because
the starters used to switch on the lights could trigger a false
alarm (distance to the device: min. 50cm).
Pull the mounting plate off the device.
Select a suitable mounting location and hold the mounting plate against the
ceiling/wall. Use the mounting plate to mark the two drill holes.
DANGER!
Risk of electric shock!
There is a risk of electric shock when drilling into a wall.
When drilling, ensure that no concealed electrical
wires or water pipes are damaged.
Drill two holes suitable for 6 mm wall plugs.
Insert the wall plugs.
Fit the mounting plate using the two screws but do not tighten the screws for
the moment.
Slide the long holes on the mounting plate over the screws to secure the device
against falling down. Now tighten the screws fully.
