9. De harde schijf
De harde schijf is uw primaire opslagmedium, dat een grote opslagcapaciteit com-
bineert met snelle gegevenstoegang.
Met uw PC heeft u een OEM-versie*
*
van het besturingssysteem Microsoft Win-
dows® aangeschaft, die alle functies van de PC volledig ondersteunt. We hebben
de harde schijf van uw PC zo geconfigureerd, dat u er normaal gesproken optimaal
mee kunt werken, zonder zelf iets te moeten installeren.
Het besturingssysteem Windows® heeft een deel van de opslagruimte nodig voor
beheer van de harde schijf, zodat niet de hele opslagcapaciteit beschikbaar is. Dit
verklaart mogelijke verschillen tussen BIOS-gegevens en wat het besturingssys-
teem toont. Op de harde schijf bevindt zich het besturingssysteem van de PC, ove-
rige toepassingen en back-upbestanden, zodat de volledige opslagruimte reeds is
verkleind.
LET OP!
Probeer nooit om de PC uit te schakelen tijdens interactie met de harde
schijf, omdat dit tot gegevensverlies kan leiden.
In de eerste partitie (C:\) bevindt zich het besturingssysteem, de toepassingen en
de "Documenten" van de gebruikers van de PC.
De tweede partitie (D:\) is voor back-ups en bevat tevens drivers (D:\Drivers) en
hulpprogramma's (D:\Tools) voor uw PC.
LET OP!
Verder vindt u in verdere niet beschrijfbare partities de opstartbestanden
voor Systeemherstel, evenals de installatiebestanden voor Windows® 8.
Deze partities zijn niet zichtbaar en mogen niet worden verwijderd.
