SMS - Short Message Service
Telecommunicatiedienst voor de overdracht van tekstberichten die eerst voor
gsm-toestellen werd ontwikkeld en die nu ook beschikbaar is op het vaste net.
Het eerste short message (korte bericht) van de Short Message Service (SMS)
werd in december 1992 door een PC naar een mobiele telefoon van het Britse
Vodafone-net verzonden, dus ongeveer een jaar na de invoering van de GSM-
standaard voor mobiele telefoons in Europa (1991).
TAE-stekker
Dit zijn in Duitsland de gebruikelijke stopcontacten voor de aansluiting van
analoge telefoontoestellen op het telefoonnet. Bij TAE-stekkers en TAE-
stopcontacten wordt een onderscheid gemaakt tussen F-codering en N-
codering. F-codering: F betekent „fernsprechen“ (telefoneren). Deze stekkers
zijn verbonden met telefoontoestellen. N-codering: N betekent
„nichtfernsprechen“ (niet telefoneren). Deze stekkers zijn verbonden met
hulpapparaten zoals bijvoorbeeld faxtoestellen, modems en
antwoordapparaten. Er zijn verschillende uitvoeringen beschikbaar. In de
meeste gevallen wordt gebruik gemaakt van de drievoudige TAE (NFN) waarop
een telefoontoestel en twee hulpapparaten kunnen worden aangesloten.
