WAS IST DECT?

DECT (Digital European Cordless Telecommu-

nication) ist der Standard für schnurlose digita-

le Telefone und schnurlose Telekommuni-

kationsanlagen, der von der europäischen

Standardisierungsbehörde ETSI definiert wur-

de. Heutzutage ist DECT hauptsächlich für

Schnurlostelefone im Privatbereich in Ge-

brauch, obwohl DECT sehr viel mehr kann.

Geschichte

Im Jahre 1988 stand das neugegründete Euro-

pean Telecommunications Standards Institute

(ETSI) vor der Aufgabe, einen europäischen

Standard für digitale Schnurlostelefone zu de-

finieren. Es gab bereits einen britischen (CT2)

und einen schwedischen Standard (CT3),

doch die ETSI entschied sich zur Schaffung ei-

nes komplett neuen Standards, der viel weiter

gehen sollte. Dies war die Geburtsstunde von

DECT.

Im Juni 1991 gingen die wichtigsten Teile des

Standards in die Phase der öffentlichen Kom-

mentierung und bereits 1992 gab es die er-

sten DECT-Geräte im Handel.

Einen weiteren Schub bekam DECT 1994

durch die Definition des Generic Access Proto-

col (GAP), das es ermöglichte, dass Geräte

verschiedener Hersteller miteinander kombi-

niert werden konnten. Heutzutage sind alle

DECT-Geräte überwiegend GAP-kompatibel.
