5.3. Lichaamswater
Het lichaam van een volwassen mens bestaat voor zowat 60% uit water. Doorgaans
is er sprake van een bepaalde bandbreedte, waarbij oudere mensen een lager wa-
terpercentage hebben dan jongere, en mannen een hoger waterpercentage heb-
ben dan vrouwen. Het verschil tussen mannen en vrouwen heeft te maken met
de grotere massa lichaamsvet bij vrouwen. Omdat het overgrote deel van het li-
chaamswater terug te vinden is in de vetvrije massa (73% van de vetvrije massa is
water) en het watergehalte in vetweefsel van nature zeer laag is (zowat 10% van het
vetweefsel is water), daalt het percentage lichaamswater automatisch naarmate het
vetpercentage stijgt.
Een verlies aan water van 5 % kan uw lichaamsenergie met 20 – 30% doen afnemen.
Drink dagelijks minstens 2 liter vloeistof.

Atleten hebben doorgaans een waterpercentage dat minstens 5% hoger ligt. Naar-
mate de leeftijd stijgt, daalt het waterpercentage ongeveer 10%.

    • When the scale is showing just the weight and not any %ge, press the 'set' button to cycle through the weight options

      Note that it will NOT display BMI even though you have programmed a height into it and it has measured your weight Answered on 27-6-2023 at 15:01
