De IEEE 1394 aansluiting (7), ook onder de naam iLink

of FireWire bekent, is een

seriële Bus-Standard voor de snelle overdragen van digitale Tv/video-, PC- en

audio-bestanden.

Tip

Let op dat stekker en aansluiting exact overeenkomen, om

beschadiging van de conctacten te voorkomen. Door de

asymmetrische vorm past de stekker enkel in één positie in de poort.

Gebruiksmogelijkheden voor IEEE1394

• Aansluiting voor het aansluiten van digitaal apparatuur van de

entertainmentindustrie zoals: set-top boxen, digitale video- en camcorders,

DVD, televisie etc.

• Multimediale toepassingen en videobewerking.

• In- en uitvoerapparaten zoals bvb. printer, scanner etc.

Technische Specificatie

• De maximale gegevensoverdracht ligt toepassingafhankelijk bij 100, 200 of

400 Mbit/s, wat een informatievolume van tot en met 50 MB per seconde kan

zijn.

• De apparaten kunnen terwijl de apparaten aan staan, en of werken,

aangesloten of verwijdert worden. (Hot-Plugging).

• De standaardkabel (Shielded Twisted Pair -STP) bevat 4 of 6 aders. Bij de

variant met 6 aders dienen er twee voor de stroomtoevoer. De vier

signaalleidingen dienen voor de gegevensoverdracht van bestanden of

controle-informatie.
